Hi guys, i'm new here and this is my first post. So....hello! I have got the HOTU version of The legend of kyrandia 3 and am having some issues with it. So my first issue is the one where it says something about not being able to find the benchmark files. I fix this my copying everything on the disc over to the kyrandia folder. Now it gives me another error. When i try to run it it says to me 'A CD-ROM driver is required to play blah blah blah'. I am trying to run it through dosbox, and have both an image of the disc that i can mount with d-tools, and a burnt disc of it. I have the legend of kyrandia 2 and it does the exact same thing. I haven't tried one yet but im sure it will do this too! I'm not sure whether copy the files over to fix that benchmark files problem is causing the next issue or not. I've googled hig and low and haven't found anything that worked. And i'm really not sure how to use those mscdex things and stuff like that. Help would be greatly appreciated guys! These issues only happen with the cd versions, i can run the other ones with no speech and stuff perfectly fine.

Cheers guys!

Dos or Windows version? What OS are you trying to run it at?

dreamlax 20-03-2006 06:28 PM

Hmmm, i not 100% sure of that to be honest. By the looks of the installer i think its the dos version, but its on cd. And i'm using windows xp. It works in xp, it just has no sound and vdmsound does nothing to it :( I really need a soundblaster.

I fixed it! :w00t: Sorry about the post guys...hehe. All i did was mount the kyrandia folder in dosbox as a cd drive! Yay!

you might want to read through the forum and look up how to use DOSBox.

can you tell me what you did to get the sound?

The Fifth Horseman 21-09-2006 01:10 PM

This question has been asked ten thousand times before. The answer is always the same:
Use DosBox. Or VDMSound. Whichever works better on your system.
You can get them from our programs page.

Before you start complaining about being unable to use them, read the godforsaken readme files and appropriate FAQ's in Troubleshooting and Troubleshooting Archive forums.
