Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Express Edition is now free to download permanently !
You can download Visual Basic, Visual C#, Visual C++, Visual J#, SQL Server Express and Visual Web Developer free from: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/ You may also want to take a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/coding4fun/ Enjoy  |
My first question is... What is missing ?
(or better: How will they convince you to you need to buy the full version) |

When Microsoft gives something away completely free, it's usually lacking a few vital features while still fully working. Remember it's Microsoft we're talking 'bout. They never give anything away for free if they can't make money out of it. What Data means, is that this's a way to get people hooked on the product, then get them to buy the version which has those vital features. Things like text highlighting or other stuff.

Well it comes with all that is needed to make most applications, sure it's missing a number of cool features but that don't cause any problems, the free edition is good for people who don't have the money to buy the better versions or don't want to obtain it other ways.
