OK, I'm gonna explain one of the goodies I was talking about
:
SOURCE PORTS
Source Ports are what really make DOOM fun nowadays, and the majority of DOOM fans prefer them over DOSBox in order to play the game. Source Ports are basically EXEs for DOOM, whether it be on Windows XP/Vista/7, Linux, or other systems (including consoles and handhelds).
However, they up the ante a bit by adding features that were never implemented or were not possible in the original game, such as modern gameplay (jumping, free look, etc.), OpenGL graphics, 3D models and HD textures, MP3/OGG music and sound, online multiplayer, and other minor and/or major tweaks.
The Source Ports I was going to link to and maybe make archives of (without the commercial WADs of course) would be:
ZDOOM - The most popular and well-known DOOM source port.

GZDOOM - Same as ZDOOM, but now with OpenGL support.

DOOMsday - Many people use this port for the heavily upgraded graphics and audio.

Skulltag - The best source port for online multiplayer.

These are the ports I like to use, but it's not limited to this. There's so much more out there...
