There is a trick that casting Friend can end you so much charisma you'll have infinite money, but the prime importance is a unique ring at the beginning from the ghost-lady, at which point you can not cast Friend or boost your stats otherwise. And I think this is a bug, there should be no requirement.
For a reason there are plenty of equipments in the game, but rings are rare.
I don't give you the actual "suggested starting stats for completionists" because that'd be too meta.
