Default Couldn't resist a gun geek moment

You're probably thinking of the Russian made Tokarev pistol, which does indeed fire 7.62mm ammo.

It just doesn't fire the 7.62(calibre) x 51mm (length) Nato ammunition we think of as "7.62" ..nor even the 7.62 x 39mm Soviet rounds (which for some reason JA2 called WP for Warsaw Pact i guess), or the 7.62 x 51mm Soviet round fired from the Dragonov (JA2 kindly, but wrongly, lets us load it with assault rifle ammo).

Instead it fires a 7.62 pistol round. Not sure of the cartridge length..but it's not as immpressive as it sounds...bullet size isn't really an issue compared to length (and hence the ammount of power in the charge).

Don't forget that most pistols now fire 9mm ammo...which sure as hell doesn't hit like 7.62 rifle. A closer example would be 7.65 x 17mm ...which is just the .32 automatic round.
