Can't get them to play in my regular players(winamp/mplayer). How is this done ? Ex: Colonization |

![]() Winamp is the one You look for.
I got version 5.35 and it works fine. To be honest since 2.0 or even earlier it worked properly (maybe old days there were some additional .dll's needed)

![]() Or: you can use a DOS-based MOD player ran under DOSBox.
I suggest: Inertia Player. Latest version: 1.22. Found: http://sac-ftp.externet.hu/sound9.html |

![]() This one is probably the perfect one, if only for .mod files and other classic MOD-based music files - Mod4Win. It's user-friendly, small and effective enough. You can download it for free, since it's development stopped long time ago.

![]() realy? i thought mod files are something like mid, except for all the sounds ("notes") used in the song are imported in the file as well, so it would always sound in the same way. and if you for example view file details for a mod file, you see a library of the imported sounds used in the song
btw, moving to technical

![]() The sound hardware used to play them back still causes a lot of difference (less than with MIDIs though).
A MOD file playing in Winamp doesn't sound exactly the same as on DOSBox. Then again, the same file doesn't sound the same between Sound Blaster 16 and Pro II and Pro. |
