Default Trying to play Blood multiplayer with little luck.

Hey,

I'm trying to get Blood running multiplayer over the Abandonia Hamachi network. What I've managed to do so far is connect to the Hamachi Abandonia network and I was able to ping 2 out of the 3 members on at the time. I've set the dosconf for IPX=true and then I can get so far as trying to ipxnet connect (correct IP) and then it times out. Also no one else was able to join me when I was the host of the server.

So far I've turned off both my firewall and my AV and I've given Hamachi network priority via the advanced settings.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

Edit: I should probably add this is on Windows XP home edition SP3.

I thought, since regular members can't always see what's going on in other parts of the forum, it'd be good to have somewhere to discuss things with the people who play with us

Since all the config for the game, dosbox and hamachi was right, and you disabled your firewall - maybe make an exception, or set up a port profile, depending on whether you've got a piece-a-shit router like me or a good one.

You know how to do that?
I'll see if I can find the ports and stuff that Dosbox (if it is that) and Hamachi use.

Can you play other games over Hamachi okay?

the server has to perform ipxnet startserver before you try to ipxnet connect to the hamachi server ip

btw don't forget that you have to setup a specific number of players in the setup in order to get multiplayer working. and same ipxnet port too

Sorry should have mentioned that as well. The server was started though and the correct amount of players set.

@Saccade I've been able to play quite a few games over hamachi before and the ports for that are all set.

Would dosbox also need port forwarding past the router if I'm running it through hamachi anyway?

I had to set up a Firewall exception for Dosbox on my laptop, so I'm guessing that there could also be the need to make some router changes as well, if needed.

But then, surely all the traffic is going over Hamachi, which is already okay..?
Dosbox wiki doesn't mention it:
http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Connectivity

We should hook up and try this again some time this week, matey.
I'm going to be around most nights, except when I'm training. Actually, I don't have a job, so I'll be around nearly all the time...

Will do, Dave.
I was thinking about moving/copying the post into the public areas, so anyone who wants to try it out can do so and leave feedback.
What do you think?

That'd be good for when people play it and none of the beta-testers are around.

That part of it is nearly ready - it is a good tutorial.
Don't know how much of it can be bypassed by giving people special, temp dosbox.configs or whatever.
(we forgot loads of the procedure the first time we tried, the other day... )

Have to wait to see how many problems are caused by end-users not following the instructions. Hopefully, not many
