![]() Hello there! This site is in bad shape since many years ago, I was wondering If someday somebody will buy Abandonia and return It to his old glory.
How much does it cost to maintain this site? Or Can someone buy it from its owners? Perhaps with a fundraising campaign?. |

![]() First of all, think what you want to recover. The only things that Abovo has here are the name Abandonia, the reviews, and the downloads (files). The name Abandonia isn't worth much any longer, sadly. Neither are the files; first because Abovo doedn't really own any legal rights to them, just the convenience of having them in place; and secondly because there are much better sources, namely https://www.retro-exo.com/exodos.html
Regarding recreating or creating a successor website, last time I was in contact with old crew, one or some of them had started with one. I could dig up the link if anyone's interested Nevertheless, if anyone is seriously interested in buying whatever from Abovo, I could provide a way to contact them. I would advise to have in mind from the start what kind of offer you want to make: what do you actually want, and how many euros would you be willing to pay them for it. Do not expect them to respond if you just tell them that you're interested in buying Abandonia off them; that is too vague, and would be putting onto them the responsibility to propose terms; while the current situation seems to suit them just fine. I'm specially ignorant on how much it would cost to set up and maintain a website like this or like whatever you may have in mind. But this is something very easy to find out. And anyone who is serious would have to start by having a precise idea of it. I would assume that the cost must include remaking the whole website from scratch, while copying over the reviews. Certainly I can't imagine you would consider keeping this garbage of website up. (For downloads, as mentioned, it would be better to take the files off a much better repository like eXoDOS -- if you're really going to provide downloads; you could simply refer to it and host reviews only...?) I also don't know what kind of income Abovo is making from the website. But I don't think this is relevant either -- except to inform how much you would have to offer them to sell. Because they're making this income by advertising gambling joints, which is in my opinion as bad as advertising drugs, and I can't imagine you would want to take up this legacy. I do not think that an abandonware website can be monetized in any honest or practical way, neither today nor in the past. I guess one would have to keep it lean and cheap, and pay for it as one pays for any of one's hobbies; this needn't be expensive indeed, except perhaps the downloads depending if or how you provide them, and again the one-time need to make a new website from scratch, which could be a personal or crowd-sourced hobby. But again, consider that other people are or were already making a successor website already, last time I heard, long ago. Let me know if you want me to dig up its link for you.

![]() Is that true? If you have a link for that, I'd be very grateful. I loved this site in the good old days.
