![]() Not sure how to do polls, just thought I'd ask what you all thought from your experience was the best martial art, and why.
for me this is a hard question, and it really depends on what you are in it for, but for straight effectivness, I'd have to say thai boxing for standup and BJJ for ground game(of course). In respect of personal development and fitness however, I'd still rank bjj on ground, but goju ryu karate as stand up. |

![]() I studied Ishanryu, though I am probably spelling it wrong. Its been a long time, but its a Korean form of traditional Karate.
My instructor was a police officer and taught us the martial arts as well as the calmness of the spirit. While its been a long time since I have been in the class I still do the excersises and the breathing and relaxing techniques |

![]() The best martial art is the one that make you happy and help you in knowing yourself!
But i have to specify that i don't consider martial arts the ones that became only sport-for-a-cup or the ones based only on aggressivity! Those are not martial arts! |

according to my previous post, the goal of a true martial art is to learn how to win again our most powerful enemies: our fear, anger, greed and so on! |

![]() for fighting id say the best "system" is bruce lee's "jeet kune do" although i think tai-chi is particularly deadly
for fitness, strength, flexibility, mental control, you cant go far wrong with karate |

![]() When someone speak about jeet kune do i become a little sad, becouse IMHO what they teach (at least what i've seen) is not the art that Bruce Lee was thinking...
If you read the book "the secret book of jeet kune do" (or a similar title) written by Bruce himself, you'll know what i'm saying this! |

![]() I don't take any martial arts, but I've wanted to...
But one of my friends has taken Tai Kwon Do since he was a little toddler. He is "supposedly" a black belt but i've never seen him do it, so..... Cool topic, Evad! Martial arts is cool. |
