![]() The windows xp version runs way too fast... so i want to run it in dos box because i can adjust the speed. But when i go to install it , it says something like "cdsetup" type the drive that your cd rom is on " or something to that effect ... so i tried doing like dos box says and going " Z:\> Mount d c:/xcom" or whatever to make the directory the cd drive so that it would install it'self from the C: drive to the C:drive ... LOL if you follow what i mean...
basically it won't install and im not sure how to make it ... and the xp version runs way way to fast to be playable. please help !!! great site by the way ... kick a** |

![]() ok did "mount d c:/xcom -t cdrom" which made the directory the cdrom
but it still gives me the same message when i run the install for the game "To Setup UFO enemy unknown , change directory to and then enter CDSETUP followed by your CD Rom drive letter For example CDSETUP D:/ or CDSETUP E:/ " thats exactly what it says ... no typos . So what should i do ... im totally confused by this , cause it should think C:/xcom is the cd rom and install it to the c-drive also note when i do the "CDSETUP and then D:/" it does nothing... just drops down a line and gives me C:/ (shrugs) what should i do ? :help: |

![]() What exactly is the problem? Why do you need to do a "cdsetup" in the first place?

![]() Ok if you go to X-com Ufo on this site you can download 2 versions...
the windows version that will run through xp and the dos version The windows version runs way to fast to be playable. I mean like the game speed is way too high. So i want to run the dos version because i can control the speed through DOSbox . When you download the dos version of xcom from this site. it is a cdrom version of the game that needs to be installed to the hard-drive in dos. So the problem is this ... I downloaded the game and extracted it to my hard drive under C:/tempgame/xcom when i go to run install . It gives the message from my previous post. "cdsetup type cd drive " or whatever and crashes out of the install back to a c:/> . so I tried to do the "make dos box think that C:/tempgame/xcom is D:/tempgame/xcom by using the proper command as in above posts. so that it would install itself as if from a cd... because as downloaded it is the exact files as on the original cd. so i need it to install C:/tempgame/xcom to C:/xcom once it's installed then i can run the exe and play the game. But it won't friggin install ?! it just gives me the same message over and over and goes back to a C:/ promt . thats the problem LOL. please help if you still don't get what im sayin . Download the dos version and dosbox from this site and try and install it ... you will see what i mean. |

![]() I wasn't aware there was a link for the DOS version.
I just tryied it myself and there is absolutly no reason to want to install the game. It's already fully installed within the archive, just start up full.bat either with DOSBox or VDMSound (if VDMSound work). |
