![]() Hi to all,
For my first post here I thought you abandonians might be able to help me name a very old probably very obscure game that I remember and would love to see again. At least 15 years old, it was a fairly simple platform puzzler where you had to navigate around each level avoiding the enemy sprites and collecting all the pickups to open a door and move on. The unusual thing about it was that it was the first game I remember with a level creator function. You could place the platforms and the ladders. You had to make sure all areas were accessible because the game placed the pickups (which I seem to remember looking like purple lollipops) and, I think, the enemies, randomly around your map. I spent many happy hours building these simplistic levels, and once you had created one each time you played it the pickups etc would be in different places adding replay value to your own creations. Any ideas?? |

![]() Cheers for the reply Scatty.
I am now a bit confused... its certainly got the right ingredients, but I dont recall it looking that good or having the jetpack... either it is a remake of the one I am thinking of, or not seeing it for over 15 years has warped my memory of it. Could have sworn it was even more simplisitic, I am cautiously certain of the purple lollipop rather than green mushroom pickup.. arggh Was there any similar predecessor to Jetpack that anyone knows of? Otherwise that could be the badger, but I almost hope not :weird: Its not what was in my mind |

![]() In Jetpack the game does not randomly place the pickups around the map... when you use the game creator you can put everything where you want it.

![]() After hunting around for the name I found a good Load Runner info site at http://entropymine.com/jason/lr/ that has a cosmic screenshot's section. The IBM PC version is much more like what I remember. My 'purple lollipops' must have been the enemy dudes running around rather than the pickups - in any case the look and colour's are spot on... I think we have a winner
Cheers to all! Many thanks for all your help with that one. I am amazed that they are still making them today! But pleased... I always did remember it as hugely fun. |
