Default King Arthur's Knights Of the Round Table

Greetings,

Does anyone this little age-old strategy game?

Here is the shareware version and screenshots of the game:

http://www.gameswin.info/gameen.php?id=1764

Would be cool if someone had the full version of the game: ebay doesn't seem helpful. :-(

Yep, the one I linked to was the shareware version, and so are the ones you linked to. :-(

I never played the full version myself: but here are the feature to look out for:

Quote:
* the most difficult skill option, in which the opposing knights
play with great skill.
* hold animated joust tournaments to win gold, honor, and even
the territories of opposing knights.
* summon the magic mantra of Merlin at a moment's notice to wreak
havoc on your enemies.
* build castles on any territory, not just your home territory
* play against 1, 2, 3 or all 4 computer players.
* collect emergency taxes (but don't collect too much, or the
peasants will revolt.
* play any of the five knights as your hero, not just Lancelot.
I guess not many people purchased what the authors calls the "Deluxe version", because it didn't promise any impressive improvement, and the author asked for $30 (not including shipping: $4 for the US), which even today is an hefty sum for a small game.

The KORT.DOC file lists a lot of snail addresses (from the US, Japan and a few European countries): it would be cool to send a few letters, to see if we get any replies. ahah

By the way, do notice that the DOS Museum also catalogues the game as "Shareware".

Awesome! I used to play the shareware version quite a bit as a kid, so I am very curious to give the Deluxe version a try! ;-)

Where can I find the ftp?

Well, seeing that you also uploaded Marios Time Machine on public hosting site tells me that you don't have FTP access. However, even with FTP access you are not allowed to download stuff, I think. So you first have to wait for confirmation that this game is abw and then you would have to be willing to review it. Although you can always give a false promise, I guess...

Hi marko,

I didn't know the ftp you mentioned was private. I will wait patiently then. ;-)

With regard to reviewing the game, I did do a review for a game I contributed to Abandonia Reloaded: http://www.reloaded.org/download/Nesquik-Quicky/473/ English is not my native language, but if you liked that review, I can cook up something for this game.

Hi guys,

Let's post the game then. ;-)

Here is a quick draft for the review:

Quote:
The departure of King Arthur marks the beginning of civil war as each Knight of the Round Table shamelessly claims the crown for himself. That's the prologue for this little strategy game: as one of the Knights, you must fight brutally and astutely in the conquest of England!

The game is a simple and short turn-based strategy game, making it ideal for the uninitiated in the genre, or anyone with a few minutes to kill. The interface is a bit medieval to use (maybe to match the theme of the game), but it's easy enough:

1. Start by recruiting soldiers (click the icon with the peasant being knighted): foot soldiers are best for defense, bowmen and catapults for attack, and knights are good at both arts but not as cost-effective.
2. Conquer as many neutral territories as possible, for the tax revenue. You can only conquer or move your campaign one tile per turn.
3. Keep your war campaign closer to your castle than those of your enemies: you lose if someone conquers your castle.
4. When you're done, click the shield icon twice: the other players will now have a chance to do their warring. Next turn, you'll have collected taxes, and will be able to expand your army.

You can leave soldiers behind to defend your territories (and recruit them back when you pass again through the territory with your campaign), but you have one warring campaign only. For more details, press F1 within the game.

In an Abandonia exclusive, we our proud to bring to you the Deluxe (commercial) version of the game. This version extends the shareware by adding:
* an extra difficulty level, or the possibility to reduce the number of computer players to make it easier
* hold joust tournaments where you can bet gold, honor and territory against other players
* you can summon Merlin's magic in an emergency, or raise emergency taxes
* build castles anywhere (improves natural defenses)
* choose any of the 5 knights to play
(I haven't tried the Deluxe version. When I do so, I will review my review.)

Rating: 3.5 (or 4?) in 5
It would be cool if you guys also made available the shareware version as a side-bar bonus, for the historical value. ;-)
