![]() I have maybe a stupid question:
Is it possible to change a processor in a laptop? Currently I'm having an old Siemens-Nixdorf PCD-4. It has 486DX@ 50Mhz and I wold like to make it a little faster (486 100Mhz) Is it possible?

![]() I'm quite sure that is possible!
You just have to control if the motherboard of the laptop support the 100 MHz processor. |

![]() When you still have got the manual that would be a start. If not: perhaps you can find something at the siemens-nixdorff page.
Another option -but I'm not sure at all- might be some analysis tool... |

![]() All I have found in manual about cpu:
CPU: SL enhanced processor i486 SX, i486 DX2 or i486 DX4 I'll try to open the computer today and take a look inside... Maybe there i will find a solution (or a problem :bleh: )

![]() It really depends. Your laptop _could_ (emphasis on could) have an exchangeable CPU - then it's only a matter of getting a compatibile CPU.
If the CPU is integrated with the mobo (cause that how some laptops were built), you can experiment with overclocking it a bit - doubt that you'll manage anything too high, but you can acquire a 10-20% improvement. Note, however, that the speed of the motherboard (most importantly, the FSB) can also cap out the maximum performance. |

![]() I stopped trying to improve the CPU in that laptop. I bought myself a new one with a Pentium 75. Still Siemens-Nixddorf PCD series.
Now I have a BIG problem. Not long ago in both laptops there i the same problem. When I turn them on it says "Keyboard stuck key failure" I do not know what to do. I'd cleaned both keabords from inside, but it didn't helped. I do not where is the problem in the keyboard or is it something wrong with the slot on Mainboard? When the keyboard is torn out to parts, i hold the inside stuff, that no metal line on the plastic can touch another, everything is apart, but still connected to the laptop - there is still a error message "keyboard stuck key failure". Only once or twice a day the laptop starts up with no error, but works only for about 10-15 minutes, then it starts writing down letters, usually multiple 't' or '[' until it hangs up. I works just fine with external keyboard, but what is a laptop with external keyboard? How to use it outside of home? If anyone knows, how to fix it, PLZ help :wallbash:
