![]() Hi,
I have a large monitor, making me unable to play any games. I first would like to point out that I already tried lowering my resolution. I searched endlessly, but to no avail. I tried playing Shadow President, without Dosbox, but I was unable to since my monitor is pretty big; it was unable to display the game. I later tried playing it with Dosbox. I read the tutorials and got to the step where I must install Norton Commander. I finished installing it but right when I tried to run Norton Commander, I got the same issue. I can't even run games with Dosbbox since I can't even run Norton Commander due to resolution issues. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks |

![]() Simply fix: don't run dosbox full screen, run it in a window.
Open dosbox conf (start menu->dosbox->configuration->edit configuration) Look under header [SDL] and set fullscreen=false fulldouble=false fullresolution=original windowresolution=1024x768 Something in those params, try other values if they doesn't suit you. Read this tutorial from Japo to learn more: http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=17499 And read the dosbox readme. BTW, Norton is indeed useful, but optional, dosbox can work perfectly without it.

![]() Just to be clear... whatever is after windowresolution= should be your desktop resolution.

I usually set windowresolution=800x600 on a 24"LCD 1920x1080 desktop res. It's not windowsresolution .... Just saying.

![]() Thanks a lot for the replies guys.
Oh. So if I edit the configuration for Dosbox, it'll do the same for Norton? Because I thought Norton was its own program that runs alone and will just make the process of Dosbox easier. Is it? Thanks a lot |

![]() It's a separate program, but you're running it inside DOSBox.
Consequently, any changes to DOSBox configuration will affect it as well. |

After re-checking I noticed I missed a step which is wy I couldn't run Norton into Dosbox. Thanks a lot Fifth Horseman, I mean it. And the others as well. I will post later if I come across any other problems, if you don't mind. |

![]() If I may, I never liked Norton Commander to begin with. Even in the old days of DOS.
If you know your way around a DOS system, like me and many of us here, there is absolutely no need to use an alternative program like Norton Commander to run old DOS games in DOSBox. Tutorials are for those who don't understand. I always said that once you know your stuff, you should do as you prefer instead of closing your mind to the little which was taught to you so far. -EoF |
