![]() These people claim that earth is 6000 years old, and they claim it with scientific facts, yeah right...

![]() Those aren't scientific facts, because they're neither scientific nor facts (haven't read it yet, but assuming it's that insidious creationist bollocks)
Edit: Ewwww! *shudders* I find this stuff scarier than terrorism or any other modern "threat to society" - exploiting the public misunderstanding of science (and in fact encouraging it) by dressing up your religious propaganda in "scientific" clothing offends every fibre of my being. The first article on there asserts all sorts of things like "the seas aren't salty enough" and "Newton didn't think the Earth was that old" without any evidence or explanation apart from footnotes referring you to MORE Creationist propaganda and abusing the idea that great scientists are infallible - Newton spent half his life working on alchemy and searching for the Philosopher's Stone, Einstein dismissed quantum mechanics ("God does not play dice.") and described the introduction of the cosmological constant (in order to allow his equations of general relativity to have solutions where the universe is stable) as his "greatest mistake" (though it was later reintroduced for a slightly different reason) - the author wouldn't claim they were right about these things. Describing any of this as "science" is an insult to the intelligence of the public, and what's worse is that a not insignificant proportion of them seem ready to lap it up. |

![]() I guess I should've put it as "scientific facts", but really you should read it, they're not swearing by the bible only...

Haven't had such a good laough in a while (but then again - it's wery rude of me to laugh at stuff like this - it's just like if a bunch of 3D shoot them up state of the art graphics games guys would be laughing at us... well not really our games have a realistic feel to them - you can download them and play).

![]() There we go....got it to work!
Holy Cr  p!!!!! "mumble mumble earth density mumble mumble cosmic inefficiency mumble mumble p^-1 + <45x>/28y= sin(8)-log(pi)" Huh? Now even I am not that stupid. They are just sucking in all the dumb people by overloading them with crappy info they made up while reading a dictionary. Galaxie's wind themselves up too fast? I have a very nice astronomical book up in my room that says it takes 200 million years for the galaxy to do one rotation. Has anyone noticed that there is no bibliography or cited sources on that essay? Ahh! Gotcha there. |

![]() Their counterargument to that, Indignus, would be to say "Ah-hah! You've been taken in by the pervading idea that the Universe is millions of years old (if not billions) but only because everyone else thinks that!" in spite of the fact that THERE'S EVIDENCE for that - that's WHY everyone thinks that!
Gah! I'm angry now. (For some comedy Creationism bashing alongside some wonderful pop science and the best explanation of evolution I've ever read, get Richard Dawkins' The Ancestor's Tale. Best. Pop science. Ever. The Science of Discworld III is on a similar theme and a bit more accessible, but not as beautiful). |
