![]() 14 years ago, I bought a program called Klik & Play which got me hooked for months. I was only 15 then and was struggling with the 250 page manual at first. It looked so cool though: the ability to make your own games! Wooo! So many possibilities!
Well, yes and no. Klik & Play was rather basic, sadly enough. For starters, it boasted about its huge library of pre-made graphics which ... were all quite useless. I mean, if you wanted to make a platform game, you only had one or two animated characters and their movies and animations were limited to shooting and walking. Woo. Enemies? Sorry, you got to make your own. Still, this didn't stop me and in no time I was coming up with my own games with my own graphics. Sadly enough, the limits of Klik & Play often threw a spanner in the works, forcing me to scale down the game or to just abandon it. I still managed to make some fun games though including one which was very popular in the entire school (based on an old Atari 2 player game where you shot projectiles that bounced off walls). Later there was the Games Factory which was quite a bit better but it was still too limited for my liking. So, who else has tried his or her hand at a game of your own? Know any cool software to do so? Spill the beans I may post some of my oldies later if I can still find them. |

![]() I had a try at making my own game using python. It was a simple flying game that detected collision with objects but I quickly got bored of it, and programming as a whole. I just don't have that kind of brain.

![]() I had a similar experience with something similar to game factory (can't remember exactly, was a while ago!), and made a library of extra graphics, looking to make a "Castle of the Winds" style game (although I hadn't seen that one at that point!), but got frustrated with the actual game mechanics and limits of the program, and also with my lack of programming skill.
I'd happily go back to doing in-game artwork, although my skills are no match for modern games artists! |

![]() Had Klik & Play too... let's just say most of my attempts at doing anything with it are best forgotten.
I recall making one - ONE - semi-playable game, that being a shooter with the player controling a submarine and trying to destroy enemy ships while avoiding their attacks. All graphics used were stock ones that came with the program. But then, that was... what, 2001? 2002? At the time, the only graphics editor I knew was MS Paintbrush. Maybe I should look into re-doing that thing. EDIT: Just looked around, seems like I don't have that game anymore.

![]() Perhaps we could create an Abandonia-themed gaming empire!
or am I getting ahead of myself? |

![]() As far as I know, AGD Interactive (http://www.agdinteractive.com) created their Quest for Glory II VGA Remake and King's Quest I and II Remake with Adventure Game Studio (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk). Mark Pay created The Spirit Engine games (http://thespiritengine.com) with Multimedia Fusion (http://www.clickteam.com/eng/index.php), either MMF or MMF2. Srehpog created Ark 22 (http://www.dur.ac.uk/david.smithson/ark22.htm) with Game Maker (http://www.yoyogames.com). And of course Amanda Fitch from Amaranth Games (http://www.amaranthia.com) created Aveyond series with RPG Maker (http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/) although probably with RPG Maker 2003 rather than with RPG Maker XP.
I have no experience with any of those software. Just spill the beans, as you said |

![]() I wanted to make a game with Engine001, but my impatience got in the way so... I'm designing Doom WADs.

![]() I developed the game Sexprazdnik using the Torque engine, it was a follow up to my previous prototype Realnisex and quite a few people enjoyed it.

![]() Well i've had this idea for a game for a while, but i dont think i'd ever be able to bake it.
It would be a Real time strategy inspired by Sudden strike, in wich it'll be realistic, and have really simple 3D graphics so everyone can play it. I mean realistic as in, maybe your troop will get hit in the arm, depending on where exaclty he was hit, hit arm may become unusable, get blown off, or he may be fine. Fe may step on an IED, and lose his leg. There would also be Line of Site and crap, no Fog of war. I was thinking of having a similar idea to that of Operation Flashpoint, like American or NATO troops on a ficticious island are thrown into action when some nation or the other invades. Yea, that'd be neat But i dont know what kind of engine i would need to use
