![]() Hi, I just played CivNet with my brother with his computer (also winXP), and I thought I'd install it on my comp too after so long break.
I remember there was a trick that you have to install wing32.dll or such to your windows/system folder in order to run it, but doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? And please, Im not here to ask how to buy civ 2,3 or 3 or how to play the game in DOS, so save that. |

c:\civnet\civnet.exe tried to use the path, but it's not valid Or something like that... |

![]() Sounds like you should check the game's config files for any traces of an installation path and modigy it to point to the current location.

![]() It's enough to have whatever DLL on any single folder included in the %PATH% environment variable, or in the folder you're running the program from.
Quote:
Check the folder you're running the game from, if you're using a shortcut.

Im not sure what I did, just copied the wing32.dll to every possible place (including twain_32) and the next morning when I tried (and expected error) it worked! |

![]() Understandable. A lot of rebooting was required in the old days. Your Windows system probably didn't recognize that the .dll was added to the directory until it rebooted and checked the available .dll...
With old games, when in doubt then reboot. |

![]() Yeah, indeed. I did reboot after putting it to system32 but it didn't work.. Go and figure. So if anyone is having the same problem, you might want to also try windows\twain_32
