![]() Never liked Brood Wars...original Starcraft is great though.
Nice move nonetheless. I hope WarCraft and especially Diablo (+Hellfire) gets the same treatment. |

![]() Warcraft runs in dosbox I think, and is just waaay outdated nao.
itink I made Diablo 1 run under win7, and it is NOT a good game, especially the multiplayer part not working for multiplayer (though everyone uses multiplayer of it as singleplayer as only that allows difficulty change. The single player mode's random questing was btw the most horrendous part of it when it counted as innovative either way). Hellfire never belonged to Blizzard, so that of your hope is like a dinosaur: Big And Dead

![]() The original does. Warcraft 2 had a native Windows version in the form of Warcraft 2: Battle.Net Edition

I believe it was back then when there was no DOSBox and / or I did not know of its existence. And once seen, I will need more GB for my memory so my brain will not freeze or the feared Blue Screen will appear. Hasta la Vista, Vista (I think I will need the Recycle Bin urgently to delete the nonsense in my brainiac)...

![]() Warcraft may be outdated now, but it was part of the RTS history as well as Dune II.
Diablo I is not as bad as you might think. The features of the game that I remember are that the player can not run and the monsters of each dungeon are not reborn, or rather, the monsters do not appear indefinitely.

Ye, you could not run. At all. That's not a hugh issue though. Real problems were: - in Single Player Mode the quests were randomized, and the monsters did not respawn. People only played the mode to aquire a certain quest-related artifact, then they carried their character to the Multiplayer Mode (you only had to copy&paste your files intoa different folder on your machine). Once you've beaten Normal Difficulty you could donothing with your character normally. - in Multiplayer Mode the quests were not random, most of them you could not meet at all. So trying out all the quests was a nightmare to do. In Multiplayer Mode the monsters DID respawn every time you entered a game. Your character, and anything you hoarded into the town was kept. The magic-system was terrible, the shop-system was crap, and the identification-process was a nightmare, that's why the otherwise lame monk of Hellfire got really popular. D1 of course at least was not the heap of bugs D2 was, but its sluggish gameplay and bad design-choices justmakes it as bad as UFO: Enemy Unknown if you tried to get all the research and get the best crew. Heck, I HATED that game when after 4/5th of the playthrough it turned out my entire crew was made useless idiots because the most important stat was the hidden psy-resistance #&@! Total Annihilation - now that was something. Btw, anyone knows how the level of the original Command&Conquer was beaten where you were with the good guys, had only a repair-pod, no income, no air-unit, and the enemy had a laser-tower?

To tell you the truth, I played this game, Diablo I, only a few times. And though I had the Hellfire Pack, I did not want to play it any more. And another thing: I always used savegame editor in both Diablo I and Diablo II so that the bugs did not bother me ... And I played Diablo III on PS3 because Blizzard would ban anyone who used editors, trainers and any modifications to the character of the game.

They went from simple "multiplayer use only" items dropped in single player mode (Über keys) through the Inferno Bug (frame-based skills only doing fraction of their supposed damage) to certain vendor selling only ilvl1 items because typo in the game files it had everything, many thing being hardcoded bugs. Then we didn't even mentioned the game-balance issues... So ye, the bugs DID bother you, unless you never tried anything creative. And even then you still suffered from things like infinite baal clones, the manaburn bug, and more (eg. the Immortal Sand Leaper Bug). Heck, with Blizzard stating 1.13 not being the final patch, then discontinuing all support to D2, I dare say D3 is the promised patch for D2. So it should be free for all who already had D2!

• It irritated me to have to collect magic pages (I do not know the correct name) to perfect the jewels; • It irritated me when after collecting items to create magical weaponry, the random result of weaponry made you very frustrated. I really detest random effect on Blacksmith’s production; • It irritated me when you want to explore the areas you’ve explored, that damn fog covers the map again and you have to explore the map again and be different from the previous map! I’ve never been interested in Multiplayer Mode. And with the use of the editor, I could edit my items and armaments. Regarding “fix patches”, I installed a few times, because I preferred to dedicate myself to other games. I think you’ve been in Hell in the figurative and literal sense... EDIT: I forgot to mention that I’m more interested in the history of the game, the characters, the gameplay and the difficulty than the modern and fascinating special effects. For example, in the DB2 game, you had to eliminate the 3 DB characters: The female Archer (1st stage); The Sorcerer (2nd stage) and the Warrior (4th stage). I prefer more type of RPG mixed with Adventure like Drakensang series, Dragon Age series and Mass Effect series than those that require more action like Diablo series or Torchlight.
