I can't help you until you tell me your computer specs and which OS you are using.

Trying to get the original and make it work with DOSBox could indeed be an option. But the Deluxe version has more features to play with, and less bugs.

Man, this game is good. I have it on CD, bought ages ago and I still play it loads. I usually start of with a few small trains which I know will profit. After that, it's straight on with the planes.

Ships can be really, really good, however they are only good on a few maps. Apart from that, this is a great game, especially the way it opens up as it gets later.

Oh yeah, that's another bone to pick. Unfortunately, to upgrade your trains and tracks, it costs a SERIOUS amount of money to get to monorails. When you get to maglevs, it's like.... bugger.... I'm totally not rich any more....

Well, personnaly it's not the money which I really need to invest when I want to upgrade my train tracks... It's really the time needed to change them all!

Basically what the fatal error when I play TTDX is is that it complains about something to do with language. I believe the error is something like this:

Error: "1033" is a bs language which was defined in some environment variable. You can choose from English, Spanish, etc with lang=english and such.

My System Specs:
Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Celeron 2.2gHz
40GB Hard Drive
256MB DDR RAM
3D Intel Extreme Graphics AGP

I hope that helps.

Hello, I'm new to your forum but not new to Tranport Tycoon!

I used to play the old version, but I've moved and am using a different computer. Since Classic won't work anymore, I downloaded the Deluxe version. I've run the registry files and I've set the configuration back to defaults, however the program will not run from any .exe or .bat and tells me that I need the CD to run the game.

Do any of you know what I could do to get to run properly?

Thank you, I'll check back here or you can email me at bernie_laraemie@yahoo.co.uk. Your help is very much appreciated,

~~Bernie

What I personally do to play TTD Windows edition is to simply load it up with VDMSound using "Transport Tycoon Deluxe.exe". Then the screen goes black (because the demo been removed, I guess) and I only need to click once and the main menu appear.

I experimented some very rare random crashes, but the game run very well otherwise. No need to slow it down etc. Just save frequently and/or use the auto save feature and you should be fine.

You can find a link for VDMSound on the tool link on this site, or just put the word in your prefered search engine and you should find it easily.

Edit: actually, the game runs fine without VDMSound...

I own TT and TTD, but i downloaded TTDFW elsewhere.

I run Win98SE and everything seems fine for me. I'm running the TTD Patch made by Josef Drexler (and others) which advances the game alot.

I'd recommend if you get stuck trying to run the game you ask on

I posted the solution for this awhile back, but for those of you that still have problems:

I found the game requires this CD if you mess around with the TTDX Configurator.exe program (ttdpatch.cfg file). You will need to re-open the file in the configurator program and select Options, Use TTDX defaults.

As for the game not saving, I had this also but only because I navigated out of the default save folder. If it opens in the wrong folder, you will need to exit and re-open. Then when you save, the default save folder will open up and just change the save name for easy reference.

Hope that helps :bye:
