My problem: the game garbles up the pallette. Not "often," not "usually," but "always." I wouldn't complain - one or two odd colors I would not mind, but the pallette is completely mixed up, and it's hard to see anything in the game.
I've tried turning off various gfx options, as well as turning sound off. To no avail. Turning everything off and running in 320x200 only delayed the garble, but it still appeared. I've tried running the dos version, but it had multiple other issues, so I gave up trying.
Could anyone give me a tip on how to make it run correctly?

Another great tool for archiving is IZArc. I don't have a URL on me at the moment, but it's a great free ware tool that can compress and decompress many formats, including 7-Zip which I use all the time. Google IZArc and/or IZSoft.

Thanks to everyone here at Abandonia, it's a great site. Hours of fun with some reminiscing k:

Hell, I've turned off all the options this time............ why does the game crash so much under XP?
Use compatible mode. Click left mouse button on the ignition icon -> Properties
-> and change the compatible mode to windows 95.
The option: "Persp. vinel" is the only reason that the game crashes.

I'm not sure but I seem to remember it either:

1) installed fully and didn't require the cd-rom to run
or
2) needed the cd-rom to load the program but didn't need it beyond startup.

I think 2 is more likely.

It certainly plays the music from whatever cd is in the drive!

No, I haven't tried DosBox yet. I'm using AMD Athlon XP+ 2100+.... so my machine is pretty damn fast. I am into CG, so it has to be fast.

I'll try DosBox and i'll see if that helps.

I've already seen another post where some guy complained that he had an athlon xp and couldn't run game xxx. i'm starting to think that those cpu's don't cope well with older games. I play Ignition on my crappy Celeron 1800 and the game runs fine. Doesn't need Dosbox.
Cool game, specially when you play against other human players. it's always fun to see our brother or friend squished by a rock when he is in the lead :Brain:
