You know how there are purple places on the map, which I think are called Evil Arctic areas? Let's try and make a fort there!

I myself recommend somewhere in "untamed wilds". Not too dangerous (no skeleton badgers or anything like that) but still dangerous animals like giant scorpions and yetis.
As for personal dwarf (Choosen), make him a bookkeeper/broker/something like that and give him only social skills, with one being comedy. Although all the challenges are cool (I think Im gonna start one), I think having one limits the playstyle, forcing everyone to play same. |

I recommend that you find the most inhospitable place and make a good start. The reason behind that is that you are looking for a good time and good story telling. It is boring when nothing happen.
Alternatively, active your terrain view so you can see interesting terrain. Try to pick a place where you can find both adamantium and a cavern of some kind. |
