![]() Couple things to add:
One, the spell list is missing almost half the bard spells. I've got them somewhere, just a second... The druid spells are the same as the previous list, only formatted differently. I know there is still one bard spell missing, and there may be some druid spells as well. Whatever the spell is that is missing, it's a level 12 only spell (Like raise army), and the graphic involves blue motes of light swirling around the caster. Spell list: Druid Spells: Extinguish (Peace) = 2,7,9-12,WE = Useful if farmland is under fire. Transfer Mana (Peace) = 1,6,9-12,EE = Transfer mana from caster to target Plant (Peace) = 4,8,12,EE = Plant trees on grassland. Heal (Both) = 3,5,9-12,WE = Will inc str of champion. Raise Army (War) = 4,8,12,EE = Some soldiers will come back to life and rejoin targeted champion. Glamour (War) = 3,8,9-12,WE = Let the caster fight as a warrior for a short time. Protection (War) = 1,6,9-12,WE = Protects the caster from attacks (only physical, or both magic and physical?) Part Water (War) = 1,7,9-12,EE = Makes river terrain fordable. Confusion (War) = 4,8,9-11,EE = Target and his soldiers will be immobilized and fight amongst themselves. Tree Tangle (War) = 3,5,9-12,EE = Casted on a field of choice (only works with trees?), trees will trap enemy for several rounds if he enters. Lightning (War) = 2,6,9-12,WE = Cast lightning on targeted enemy and cause damage on his soldiers and him. Hurl Stones (War) = 2,5,9-12,EE = Let it rain stones on targeted enemy. cause damage on enemy and soldiers. Orb of Lava (War) = 1,6,9-12,EE =Fires orb of lava at enemy. Damages him and his soldiers(don' work well if it rains). Flood (War) = 4,7,9-12,WE = Will damage soldiers and targeted enemy, and the flood could draft him some fields away. Bard Spells: Increase Herd (Peace) = 1,6,12,AE = The more cattle you have the better the results Encourage (Peace) = 3,8,9-12,AE = Increases ability of all champions (amount varies by spell and caster level) Inc Population (Peace) = 3,7,12,FE Farm (Peace) = 2,5,9-12,FE = Turns grassland into farmland. Maxes farmland up to 47. Poison Cloud (War) = 2,6,9-12,AE = Cast cloud of poison on targeted enemy and trap him for several rounds. Smoke (War) = 2,5,9-12,AE = Cast cloud of smoke on targeted enemy and trap him for several rounds. Trapped target will move randomly. Hypnotize (War) = 1,8,9-12,FE = Causes enemies who come into contact with caster to fall asleep. Caster can take no other actions while hypnotizing. ![]() Since I can't seem to edit my previous post...
Vacri: You manage each province individually, just end turn. (You've probably figured this out by now, heh.) In general, this game seems focused on heroes. And, the quickest way to get lots of heroes, is by capturing and recruiting them. Thus, contrary to what the manual says, war is probably the easiest way to win. Then again, maybe what the manual *meant* was, "we realise that war is TOTALLY BROKEN, so you should use peaceful tactics whenever possible". Yes. Right. Because all those other AI-controlled heroes are going to be ready when Balor comes knocking, what with their Rings and Torcs and other assorted items of supreme power. (Actually, apparently Charm does boost spell power, so Rings aren't that bad, but you'll have much better if you just refuse to pay taxes a couple of times). |

In order to move between provinces you have to go to the Burg and use the move option. And to undo the "delegate" option you have to go to the Citadel(looks like a castle). Hope this helps.:thumbs: ________ butt Webcams Last edited by jasonmloh; 01-05-2011 at 12:44 AM. |

![]() I've beaten this several times, each time using different ruler and sometimes trying to exploit different strategies and I must say that... everything works here! Although I love the game the difficulty level is way too easy. I like all the little things - character portraits, how the characters refer to themselves, duels, graphics, province management - it's not just spots on the map like in Genghis Khan (good game too).
There are several strategies that I've employed:
As for the champions: their skills don't mean that much to me. As I said you can beat the game with pretty much anything. Therefore I pick 'em based only on their physical appearance. My favorite champions are (in the order of preference):
In my most recent playtrough I tried playing two tribes at once - Sinnan Og's tribe and Sligo (Medb's tribe). After I conquered all of the computer tribes I staged an "epic battle" between the two rulers. The rule was only one: the king doesn't get touched untill all of his comrades are defeated. The tribe who brought the most druids won the battle... I exiled Sinnan Og simply to see what's going to happen with the tribe. Lugh was promoted as the new ruler and the control was taken over by the computer. That's one way to lenghten the gameplay, I suppose, instead of surrendering one of the rulers to the another. I didn't get Sword of Nuada in this playthrough because Skatha's tribe was conquered before the event took place - and I know it would take place because it did before the game hung up and I had to reload previous save... I must say the computer used the tribe that was given to him pretty skillfully. Probably because it had plenty of champions spread evenly over the border provinces at its disposition. It even managed to ram Lugh and his comrades deep into my territory. The computer was either smart enough or lucky enough to attack provinces where I had no druids stacked and went immediatelly for the battle chief. Each druid in the army makes the battle easier for the owner exponentially. Computer's champions were very resilient to recruitment (resistance is NOT futile, lol) and it kept attacking me to the very end. Balor was a formality. The battles are pretty easy too. I mean, if all it takes to win the battle is to destroy the leading champion then where's the strategy? I once took a druid-only army and defeated my foe before he could make a move. All it takes is to cast orb of lava spell at the enemy leader several times. I didn't try this strategy again because I realized how lame it is. Genghis Khan II worked in similar way, but computer there was better at protecting the leader's legion. I like to round up enemies into provinces from where they can't run away anymore, then I kill the leader and behold their entire mighty army fall before me on their knees. HA HA HA. Also the most helpful weather is the mist, since computer has difficulty using his druids for healing. As for the most useful spells I think these are Heal and Lightning (in this order). The first one is pretty obvious and the second one can turn any infuriating weather (like blizzard) into rain. Plus in the rain the Lightning becomes extremely deadly. Sometimes I scout my delegated provinces to see how the computer manages them. It usually puts all the champions into the farming, even if the province is already covered in crops! And sometimes champions just stand idly doing nothing. It reminds me of Ghenghis Khan II where provinces managed by my generals usually had little to zero gold, no soldiers and LOTS of food. However in GKII I usually put weak generals as governors since they are less likely to rebel and easier to defeat in case of rebellion The interface could've been done better. Sometimes it's annoying how the cursor will not lock onto the field where you want to move your character in the battle. I also don't like that you have to place your hero in specific position on the province land to begin work like mining or woodcutting. If the options are separated already then the guy or gal should be smart enough to pick a spot by himself/herself - either the closest one or the one with highest level. Remake anyone? I can think of several ways to make the interface better (especially since now we can use higher resolutions). I guess it won't ever happen since the game relies a lot on it's graphics, and lots graphics require a team who is willing to work, for free. Then again there's this Free Orion project... BTW: Luchta - is this a coincidence that he's "Luchta the Carpenter" and he also looks like Jesus? TL;DR Last edited by Zalewa; 02-04-2010 at 05:54 PM. |

![]() Sorry for bumping this thread but I've given this another playthrough and something happened. Something that left me just sitting there in astonishment. I've made screenshots. Look:
![]() This ain't battle screen. ![]() Ok... ![]() OK! Wait... what the hell? ![]() Balor is my champion! ![]() And now he's the province leader! ![]() The final battle at Tory Island. Balor is not present. How I did this? As you know Balor invades one of the northern coastal provinces once all other tribes are conquered or allied with you. I've had the last enemy tribe occupy such province - to be more specific province no. 2 (the one in top-left corner). I've turned this tribe into my ally, you know - when they assume blue color on the map and you can't attack them anymore and, given some time, they decide to submit to you completely. This tribe's ruler (Sinnan Og) came to announce hers tribe submission. However in the meantime Balor devastated the province. As you also know the game forces you to attack the province immediatelly. This is all a kind of a normal scenario. However this is where things went wrong. Normally, when Balor invades a province, all champions inside are destroyed, however Sinnan Og wasn't in the province at the time - she was on the way back. Immediatelly after my champions put their feet in the province Sinnan Og appeared and said "I can't win, therefore I have to run away." The battle ended and I had Fomors under my command! It's too bad you can't use 'em for anything. You can't even bring them to the final battle. On the other hand Balor is not present in the final battle and to win you just need to defeat Domnu. I guess such course of events wasn't predicted by the developers. |

![]() What affects the ability of warriors to challenge other warriors to duels in a raid? The manual doesn't say anything, and every single time I try it, the other guy always says he "doesn't have time" to grapple with me or something like that.

First of all you may challenge only other warriors. You can't get into a hand-to-hand battle with a bard or a druid. The success of such battle depends on a) Arms and Ability attributes b) The kind of weapon that your champion wields (Sword of Nuada is the best) c) Might and Heroism skills. Sometimes enemy hero will refuse just for the heck of it, then immediately challenge you for a duel in his turn. EDIT: No warez? Ok. Then I'll link to the same thing but on abandonia... duuuuh Last edited by Zalewa; 21-11-2010 at 08:13 PM. |

![]() Haha, somehow it didn't even occur to me that maybe the enemy bard wouldn't be too willing to go one-on-one with a guy that lives his life for battle, so thanks for pointing that out.
