Definition of life (from what I've been thought at school - and checked it in an old encyclopedia):

1) It must be born - most come to a point where it's life begins.
2) It needs the nurishment - must consume something and produce some waste in return.
3) It must grow - must change it's size or shape from the point when it first came to life.
4) It must die - it's life cycle must at one point stop, and stop of natural causes.

Also most life-forms have these two characteristics as well:
5) The capability to reproduce (but if you're not able to have children - you're still a life form).
6) A certain defence mechanism to protect it from harm.

This may sound blatant but...

1) They are born (created by another person) and then multiply
2) It consumes per say your HD, and the waste is all of the data lost
3) They evolve, later they come in different formes of E-mails(which is a part of their program)
4) They die when they do what they have been made for(at least they now their meaning :P)
5) 80,000,000 infested computer isn't enough?
6) Many viruses shut down AV programs... :whistle:
