He never had a normal life style to begin with... He was under preassure as a child already...
About new POP material... There is still the possibility to go animated (look at the Gorillaz video-clips), but like others said - I doubt he's able to make much more soundwise - the last OK song Jacko made was "They don't really care about us" and even that wasn't too big of a hit (he had an album or two after that, but nothing memorable).
It's hard to come up with something that would have the quality, originality and would be as popular as his 80s hits were - especially for him.
