Also when you have split up squad members, if you want them to regroup just move to the leader of the squad you want the soldier to join.
Also squads who are not currently selected will use machineguns to fire on any enemy in range which is useful when you want to only send in one soldier and can have some other soldiers covering him. However squads will not run away from grenades or rockets so make sure there in a safe position.
