According to my baptismal certificate, my name is Richard. Not that this surprises me, but my brother, whom everyone called Tom, was shocked to discover, when he looked at his birth certificate to apply for his drivers' license, that his first name was Bruce.
It amused me to learn that Richard is an old english word for tyrant, or harsh ruler. |
