But there is one single full version of it which was sold on eBay in around 2005 for a huge mass of money to a collector who's of course holding it tight instead of releasing it to everyone for being available.

I don't know, Scatty. My impression from that forum link is not that that a full, finished copy of an expansion was made, or sold, but that the box and its art are accurate. The fact that nobody has commented upon the code, and that neither Garriott nor EA are t screaming bloody murder over a game they supposedly own but was never sold and has now been auctioned off, should tell us all something.
