Well no, I have to disagree there. You can play Quake 1 with keyboard + mouse just like the more modern shooters, easy and fast. I'm talking from own experience there. There was this "freelook" or "mouse aim" or something like that option, which allowed you to turn and look to anywhere while steering with arrow keys. So it is definitely not that retro
