Heidi in Tirol?? It's been a while since you last read it, I suppose.:bleh:
Jane Eyre is a horrid woman, but she's nothing compared to Lucy Snowe from Villette, who makes you want to wring her neck every other page (Jane is annoying, but Lucy is ghastly). Still, Werther is sooo bloody boring I'd rather read the collected works of Charlotte Brontë than reread Werther. It's one big yawn and then he shoots himself and it's STILL boring. Apparently it was one of Napoleon's favourite books - he must have been an extremely dull person...

Ahem. Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack this thread to chat about literature.

I'm 24 and paranoid about disclosing personal details for fear that one of you is really my tutor (You may be pretending to be a fifteen-year-old male geek with a liking for first person shooters, but you're not fooling me, Mrs Holton!!). For similar reasons I'm paranoid about posting pictures of myself as well.
Despite appearances I'm a book person and not a PC game person, really. I own about a dozen computer games, but well over 10,000 books. (No, I haven't read them all. Not yet.) I like literature, languages, silent films and porridge.

Oh, btw... did I mention that Camus's pretentions and empty? I think I forgot to mention that
And Kafka's worse, but at least he writes about giant cockroaches to break up the monotony :P

Camus is one of the best 20th century authors. Maybe you should stick to the lord of the rings or spiderman. Just kidding.

Camus' book "l'etranger'' is a masterpeice, his criticism of the society is really sharp. Maybe the english version lost the book's overall 'mood'.

just to get back on topic, my name is jimmy i am 19, studying pharmacy and i am probush and a fervent christian ( it is not because he is a christian fanatic that i like him). So i learned not to post much in this forum so i could spare myself some

The version of L'Étranger that I read, was in Dutch, actually, which'd mean more than one translation'd've lost its entire 'mood'.

As for Werther... one of my classmates from back in highschool thought that, after Werther shot himself, there was an entire chapter 'bout Jimi Hendrix. Shows exactly how boring that book is, if people tend to be convinced their dreaming's part of the book

Oh, and back on topic: I like oatmeal B)

On-topic:

My name's Daniel Albano, I'm a 16 year old portuguese guy, I'm finishing high school, well, trying to, flunked last year, gotta try it again this year :P

I'm mostly a computer person, so my interests revolve around them. Ever since I found DOSBox I've been digging up all the oldies from my childhood and the ones that've been damaged with time, I look for them in abandonware websites such as this one.
I've always loved playing games, old from modern, and my favorite game series are X-Com, C&C and MI. Mostly I like FPS and RTS games, and (unlike 99% of the world) I hate RPGs (mainly MMORPGs) and was never very good at RPing.

My few skills are web-design, I know some HTML/CSS/Flash and I can install and manage forums; some programming knowledge of Delphi (Object Pascal), C++ and TI-BASIC, and good experience with programs like The Games Factory, Multimedia Fusion and Adventure Game Studio.
Besides playing games I also like to make them, though I have very poor artistic skills and few willpower so most of them never go far (more info on my homepage).

Currently I'm the admin and skin author of the Dream17 Forums, as well as co-webmaster of its website. I'm also the "UI Guru" (or so I'm called) of Project Xenocide (servers currently down), and I'm working on an adventure game with a friend of mine, and I'm also the webmaster of his webcomic Rooms.

Around here I try to help by providing games, screenshots and portuguese translations for Abandonia as well as working on the UFO: Abandonia Unknown game.

Other than computers, there's not really much to me. I like to watch TV and read comics and I'm mostly an inside person. I like Douglas Adams' work, having read the first three books of The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy series and The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. Due to my lack of culture and interests I've never been much of a "talker", and added with my lack of attractive-ness and skills (aka geek :P ) I've always been a person of few friends and no girlfriends, but one manages.

Then how do you explain the X-com thread you've started? :bleh:

Oh, as an addition to my little text I wrote earlier: I love RPG, except that I hate MMORPG. Actually, I almost always hate MMO in general.

Buahahaha. That is the hardest I've laughed all day.

I'm just suddenly wondering why people IRL seem to like me so much

I'm a huge geek, talk very little, and tend to be very up-front about my dislike of being in the general vicinity of anything human. Social anxiety disorder + the internet = k:

One really does manage.

Oh, and I like cheese.

It's just good.

I have a feeling that's pretty common on these boards.

I have to admit being one myself. A geek that is. For some reason, I do have a girlfriend though. And the occasional friend or two also.

Telling about me besides what I already told? Sorry, but that's really none of your business. If there's something that becomes inportant in one discussion or another, I will make mention, but until that...

Why'd you wanna know, anyway?

Because it's friendly and some people would like to know something about those they're discussing things with.
So it doesn't feel like they're talking to strangers, or they wanna be friends, or they want to get to know you, or etc.
