It's all these female fronted punk bands I've never heard of before, absolutely awesome stuff

Too bad I haven't heard about so many of them. I know Vice Squad is great, old as dirt and still going strong k: And of course Shonen Knife, a really superb cartoonish/candy/cheery band. Sad to read what happened to their drummer, she died a couple of years ago in a car accident

Now: Black Sabbath - Never Say Die. When I was like 15, this was one of my top 3 fav bands and if I saw an album I didn't have, I'd go out of my way to get it. Haven't listened much to them the later years, but now I decided to give their old albums an ear.

Now and a shameful amount of the time: Whatever Simon and Garfunkel happens to be close at hand >_>

The Blondie tribute sounds classy.
Blondie live sounds like a dodgy punk cover band, incidentally.

I actually prefer them live ('though I've never seen them live, I only have live recordings) Deborah Harry's voice is much more ethereal that way. Well, for my ears anyways

Have you seen them play?

Yeah, she's all about the reverb
They were out playing in the square up Glasgow before I lost my sense of time.
Think it was between 2 and 50 years ago.

Liked the Phenobarbidolls' 11:59. She sings a bit like a Nina Simone. Less powerful, like, but no shame in that.
Denis, I think, was taped on a karaoke machine

Nice, I've never had the chance to see them live

Yeah I actually really liked that version of 11:59 and Little Girls Lies open the album in a pretty spectacular way, the only real let down for me was the cover of Rip Her To Shreds (The Come Ons) it's competent but it's like a copy, they don't bring anything else to it which is a shame. Either way it's nice to hear The Tide Is High to be played more like it was originally envisaged before Blondie got "discofied"

And damn you, because now I've got the urge to dig out more Nina

EDIT: Alex - D.U.M.E yay!

All this Blondie talk made me get those albums I haven't heard since my older sis was a teenager. Right now "Eat To The Beat". "Union City Blue" makes me go all kid again \o/ (yeah sure, like I ever wanna grow up ) -> Going blue with Robert Johnson's Complete Recordings, some serious delta blues for the prize of one soul.

Ah, down on the delta.
Call me cheesy, but Howlin' Wolf, that loveable fat guy with the 40 a day voice, is my go to for the blues fix.
Spoonful's hella tune.

Hey, I better get some HW then I also try to find John Lee Hooker's recordings from the 40's-50's. I have it on vinyl, but I no longer have a turntable.

Now: **** SParrer - Guilty As Charged, a great album... again... from these fine chaps.
