Hi JMB
Thanks a stack for your "gamer support" in loading the manual and quickreference card. You are a star!

Hi Sal
Thanks re the maps. I can see and open them, but cannot print them. My PC just goes "clunk", and the printer sits as immobile as a sphynx. Never mind, I am drawing them by hand so I do not get lost in the hedgemaze. What a pain the hedgemaze is, it is big (I have not got to the end yet) and full of walls within most of the "rooms", which makes it more confusing. However it is not impossible if one maps it, or can manage with the in-game map. Also, you can not linger too long in one place or else the snake-monsters all home in on you and gang up on you.

Best wishes to everyone, and have a great gaming-weekend.
Regards, Wendy

Hi KEL
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. I have not even found one garlic yet! Unfortunately I can't play for a while, I have a busy weekend ahead - housework, fertilise lawn (been meaning to do it for ages, so I now have to translate "meaning into "action"!), plus sort out a big job on my PC, etc etc.
Darn, real life is getting in the way of games/fun!!!
Keep well, and thanks again.
Regards, Wendy

Hi SAL : I am having trouble logging in again  - this site unfortunately seems very temperamental, as you said. What a pity, it is such a good site iro site-contents and forum-contents. I wonder how many potential contributors just give up because of the problems!!!
It seems that if you can not log into the site (top of page), then you might succeed in logging in to the forum (click "quote" button then enter details in password screen that pops up), and vice versa. Also, it seems that on the "forum login" screen, it sometimes helps if you tick "remember me" - but why that should make a difference to login beats me.

What a pity one can no longer simply post to the forums as a guest. Bad move, Abandonia, it probably puts off lots of casual guests who would potentially become members after a time, like I did. It also prevents someone with technical problems/password problems (which unfortunately are frequent on this site) from posting a message (temporarily as a guest) asking for help.
Regards, Wendy

Smile Veil of darkness

Hi Wendy,
Have been to the graveyard and gotten rid of red ghost now in the dark forest and I can't find the cottage..HELP! I keep running into bats, and other assorted monsters...Appreciate any help from you or anyone...Sal:laugh:

Wendy I KNOW how you feel about the log in thing...Now I just don't log out...What gets me is the impersonal "you're not welcome" type of messages when one tries to get into the site. I too pine for the "guest" option. ..All I can say is hang in there. After a long time of problems..a couple of days ago I won 5 pieces of eight in the screenshot quiz!!! a small thing maybe but to me it was GREAT......SAL

Hi R.U.S.S...Yeah you're right Aussies do have a funny way of speakin the lingo..writin and that is one thing but speakin is a bit different cobber(Mate) (friend) ay...We like it but....and people who come to live here gardually get the accent too, but when a lot of us shielas and blokes are in a big mob together we can be bloody hard to understand..right ay.....avagoodweegend.......SAL

Hi Sal

The Dark Forest:-
Difficult to describe because the screens scroll, so I tried to judge what “one screen” would be. I have tried to describe what is significant about each “screen”, and then the direction to go in:-
  • Make sure you are wearing the talisman, otherwise the banshee you meet later will kill you (quite interesting and spooky to see!)
  • Start of Dark Forest. Go north x1 “screen”
  • Woodcutter “screen” : go north x 1 (pass upwards to left of woodcutter)
  • Trees block passage to right : go north x 1
  • Wolves : go north x 1
  • Trees block passage to right, and there is a opening to left : go north x 1
  • Wolves (and motherwort) and opening to right : go right x1
  • Will-o-wisps (yellow floating things) : quickly go south x 1
  • More will-o-wisps : quickly go south x 1
  • Trees block passage to left and south : SAVE YOUR GAME *** and then go right x 1(*** before going right, you might want to take off the talisman and then go to the banshee (see next 2 steps), and watch it kill you, for the fun of it. Then restore at the save, and wear the talisman).
  • More will-o-wisps : quickly go north x 1
  • Banshee (blue floating circle) : go north x 1
  • Cottage
  • When finished in cottage, use map to exit Dark Forest easily
Regards, Wendy

Default Veil of darkness

:laugh:Thanks Wendy and Marshall 99...found the cottage and got out of the forest went to the island etc and am now in the Maze...I have found 3 garlic bulbs but to do this I had to go through every gap in the maze.I have kept my games at very stages which is just as well becuase something keeps getting me and I was almost a skeleton.
Wendy I did try to print the maze map too but it won't print for me either. I have been through the entire maze. The topiary monsters are easy to get if you have the big machete. When you chop them they turn into trees:laugh: I am going back to the beginning of the maze with a saved game to have another go..Regards...SAL
