Question for PICARD:

I read that you play WC3 and WC4. Was curious to know how you got those running if you use XP as your OS. Below is my system specs, but I can't seem to get the video to initialize in game. I just get a black screen til the options come up, and you can read these and hear Mark Hamill's voice when you select the choices. Only prob I have is no vid. Any clues? Currently I've tried AbandonLoader and SoundVDM...but maybe I'm not setting something properly...

WINDOWS XP PRO (ABIT IC7-G 875p)
1.5gig PC3200, 128mb RADEON 9600

Also am having trouble with some old games if anyone can clue me in...

XCOM (microprose): Cannot get the sound to work, and speed is a little too fast.

SPACE QUEST 5 & 6 (sierra): Speed is way too fast in specific parts, but playable through most, Can't get SP 3 or 4 to work at all;

DARKLANDS (microprose): No sound...

Use DOSbox instead.

Dosbox is something I've tried too. Same problems if not more. These are the ones that I just can't fix using any of those three methods. SOUNDVDM works for a few old games better than the others, DOSBOX doesn't seem to cut the cake for any yet, and AbandonLoader worked about the same for space quest 5... I dunno. Do you know which particular settings in Dosbox might fix it? Maybe I'm not altering what needs to be changed...

This one has been abandoned for a long time. Even TUOL claims it is abandoned.
It is for sale at Amazon, though.

EDIT: Scratch that, it appears the store itself is out of stock.

EDIT2: Gameplay has it here.

Is anyone else having a problem running this game?

I'm trying to run it with DosBox but I keep getting a 'cant find xwing cd' error.
I did two different attempts.
1) made a folder and copied all the files to it.
2) burned them to a cd

Neither of of these is working for me.

I know the problem lies between my keyboard and chair, I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Any help is appreciated as I am dying to play this game again.

-also I read on one of the posts that the 'return' cut scenes are gone - what a shame - that was part of the fun of playing the game. Like all the same type of stuff from WingCommander.

Anyway - thanks in advance.

That is correct.

If someone (regardless who) has a license to sell the game, it is not abandoned.

Try using DOSBox. It was made specifically for running DOS games in WinXP.
