After patching the game ran fine, until just after I got the first cinematic with Dawn in the cathedral. Then it asks me for CD #2 and despite having very few scratches the computer can't find it. Will copying the files from my Lands of Lore III CD #2 into my main folder fix it? If not, is there a legal way of getting around the problem?

Maybe, if you can edit the INI file or something so that the game looks for the CD files on your hard-drive.

No-Cd cracks are not exactly legal, but on the other hand they are not exactly illegal either.

I'm going to be radical here: As you DO own the CD, download a copy of it IF the publishers refuse you a new for a resonable fee.
Personaly; I dump ALL cd's i have to the hard-drive and run them from there. Got techsupport from Atari how to bypass the protection and creating a working Image-file. Atleast here in Sweden, you'r entitled to have a backup for personal use.

Necroposting
 I have a similiar problem In the ini file the is nothing making that the game looks for the CD files on your hard-drive or im wrong ? Burning the isos looks like the only solution for me but im not sure at all it will works.

Yes, they take place in the same world and you use only 1 character, who is different from lol 2 and 3.
