It depend which kind of zombie you are talking about.

The common zombie found in D&D is extremely easy to kill for about any average adventurer and sure doesn't infect their victims when they hit...

Only Resident Evil is crazy enough to make up something like that.

In D&D a simple zombie is easy to kill but there definitively are more zombie types, and some are quite nasty and infect with every hit.

And zombies infecting with a bite is not a Resident evil thing but an original Romero "Night of the living dead" thing.
