![]() Just got the game, havent played it before, but since its Star Wars, im giving it a go. Couple things tho. Where the heck do you go for training? I dont mean that proving ground thing, i mean actual training. Also, why are the controls so slow? I can hardly move.

![]() When I used Picards instructions for dosbox, I type in the 'mount c c:\dosprog' command, but then it comes up with a message 'Directory c:\dosprog doesn't exist'. What am I doing wrong?
By the way, I have the cd image mount in drive 'f:'. I have 'local drive c:', and 'compact disks d:, e: and f:' in 'My Computer'... 'compact disk d:' is real, while 'compact disk e: and f: are fake (I think?? |

mount c d:/games/xwing That means, in dosbox you will go to drive c: (that in reality is d:\games\xwing), so you start the game with c:\xwingcd |

He needs to mount the drive in dosbox before installing the game. Create a folder called dosprog on your c drive. Then follow picards guide, it should work now. I gotta say, though, that VDMsound is a lot simpler to use, and it works better too. Dosbox tends to slow some games down a bit too much for my pc. Just remember to enable mscdex in VDMsound, if you're gonna run x-wing, or it wont work. |

Ok, To be a bit more Technical, The "hard Disk" your refering to is the 3.5 inch Floppy Disk, Commonly called Hard Disk back then, Do to the fact the the 5.25 inch was very plyable, and the 3.5 had a Hard case on it. It was not a industry term, but just a term many people people used to help associate one from the other. And I would of loved to see a "Hard Disk" Hard Drive, that carried Gigabytes of Information on it back then. Considering i was still using a 120 MB Hard Drive in those days.... Hope that clears everything up |

![]() This game I bought on floppies, also Imperial Pursuit and B-Wing add ons.
I finished all missions without cheating (other than the in-game resurrection thing). Now it this had not been a Star Wars themed game, I would never have finished it. Can't say I enjoyed the game that much though. Example: in one mission you must escort a flight of Y-Wings attacking an Imperial frigate. It sucked. I had to order the Y-Wings to halt to prevent them from getting destroyed (they never use torpedoes). I killed all the Ties and then I SINGLEHANDEDLY took on the frigatem, bringing down its shields with my two puny lasers (A-Wing). What a miserable excuse for a mission! Never going to bother again with X-Wing. Tie-Fighter was MUCH better, more userfriendly. Even X-Wing Alliance was better than X-Wing. And what was the point of having veteran wingmen in X-Wing? They got killed as easily as the computer drones. Okay, end of rant. |

![]() I'm searching Code for X-Wing from 1992/93 (it's on 5 floppy disks), after install in the menu I have a message: Copy Protection, 3 marks in Dark katarn Font and text: See manual page 13 or 9 or else. What's the Code? I need to unlock this Game. zaxonspox@interia.pl

![]() For people still having trouble installing this game or getting it to run...
You need.. The archive, and DOSBox 0.63. That's it. unzip the archive to somewhere useful.. Like, c:\dosgames\xwingCD This is going to be your pretend cd drive using DOSBox Make an Xwing directory , such as c:\dosgames\Xwing This is where the game will install to start dosbox, type these commands... imgmount d c:\dosgames\xwingcd\xwingce.bin -t iso mount c c:\dosgames\xwing now, change to d: in dos box, you should get.. D:> type install, or install.exe you will not see these using dir, don't panic. If you are in dosbox and have mounted the C:\ drive as above, you can install to c:\ and in reality it will go to C:\dosgames\xwing. Should install Running it: Properties of my desktop shortcut, Target: "C:\DOSBox\DOSBox-0.63\dosbox.exe c:\Dosgames\xwing\bwing.exe -conf XWing.conf" Note, you can use xwingcd.bat instead of Bwing.exe and it will work as well. What do to with .conf file get out of DOSBox of course, explore to your DOSBox directory... Copy the default .conf file and rename the copy XWING.conf At the bottom of the conf.file , add the imgmount as illustrated below. Make sure you save it as "Xwing.conf" and not Xwing.conf.txt. Or just rename it after :P [autoexec] # Lines in this section will be run at startup. imgmount d c:\dosgames\xwingcd\xwingce.bin -t iso All you need to do now is click the shortcut. Oh, and find a manual. |
