Of course if Abandonia hosted the rest of the Final Fantasy series, I would give them 0s as well... Yes, I'm one of those computer RPG curmudgeons you only hear about in hazy legends. |

Of course if Abandonia hosted the rest of the Final Fantasy series, I would give them 0s as well... Yes, I'm one of those computer RPG curmudgeons you only hear about in hazy legends. [/b][/quote] There are certainly good console RPGs..........it just so happens that the Final Fantasy series isn't the best series like so many people claim it is. Final Fantasy 7 is a good game, and FFX was decent......FFX-2 was just a huge pile of crap. One of the American FFs on SNES was a good game as well.....but overall the 3 game Suikoden series is better. The 4th game in that series is coming out in just a few days if it hasn't already. Now let me explain why I think it's better than Final Fantasy. First of all, Suikoden 2 blows every Final Fantasy game out of the water, and blows almost any RPG out of the water, console or PC. I've played most of the so-called classic Playstation RPGs (games like Breath of Fire 3), and most of them just plain suck compared to Suikoden 2. It's a brilliant game, especially the ending, since the best ending requires you to remember something that happened at the very beginning of the game and then follow through with it. Secondly, all the Suikoden games actually take place in the same world, and sometimes the characters are interrelated. In fact a significant number of characters from Suikoden 1 show up in Suikoden 2, and you can even get the hero from Suikoden 1 in your party in Suikoden 2 if you load a save from Suikoden 1 and beat a side quest. Then in Suikoden 3 some of the characters are offspring or otherwise connected to Suikoden 2 characters. I'm not really sure why they're all called Final Fantasy when the only thing they have in common is Chocobos.......the stories and characters and even the game worlds have no connection to each other. Furthermore, Suikoden 3 had a really interesting innovation where you played as three separate main characters, and so the plot unfolded from three very different perspectives as you progressed through each character's chapters. There was also a fourth character you could play as which revealed a little more of the plot, and after beating the game you could play through a small chapter as the main villain. There are also plenty of PC RPGs better than Final Fantasy........Arcanum, KOTOR, the Baldur's Gate games. Everyone seems to love Fallout as well, but I've never played those games because the backdrop didn't appeal to me. A lot of people would put Morrowind on this list, but I didn't really like Morrowind -- I'd classify it more like an epic action game than an RPG. There was barely any character interaction and none of the NPCs had any personality, and it never seemed like the story was very important even though it had a lot of depth to it if you took the time to read all the books. Anyways, my point here is that there are certainly some good Final Fantasy games, but they aren't the greatest RPGs ever made. I think it's silly that some people immediately love and praise anything Final Fantasy when there have been better RPGs even on the same system, but I also think it's silly that some people blindly hate Final Fantasy for no real reason. |

![]() Okay, I do have to admit I've never played FF8 or FF9. But everyone seems to think FF7 is far and away the best FF game for some reason, and Suikoden 2 as well as those PC RPGs are much better than FF7.

About these RPG maker games. Do they all have the same battle system that Endless Nove used. The whole first person view with giant monsters and tiny heros. I fail to see how a hero 10 times smaller than the mosnster could kill it. |

![]() Yeah I had a look at the screen shots. And am now downloading a game called Naufragar: Crimson. Do you know if this game is as good as is suggested, and if there are any you recommend, from either of those three I don't mind.
