![]() i used to use dos and i don't get it with dos box.
i mean you have so many different settings in it and it's hard to find explanations what it (the setting) does. and then you have processor cycles. ok it's the speed of porcessor right? but how many cycles does 386SX 16 mhz have? hmm? and how many 486dx 80 mhz? instead of writing that they write cycles. plus there are a lot of other settings i really dont' know what they are four. all i know is me and my brother tried it on his 800celeron with win 2000 an drealised that the computer is too slow to run dos games  |

![]() Lol, 800 Mhz Celeron is much too slow for DosBox. For the emulated speed of 486DX4 100Mhz you need somewhere around P3 1700Mhz up to P4 2.0 Ghz. But that depends on what games are emulated. Some run faster, some, seemingly with same speed, run slower. The faster processor, of course, the better.

![]() well i actually just opened it and saw the structure of it and remembered all that flex and YACC/Bison compilers i've done in the university and well it was like watching Charon (death) naked running after me......bad experience u know........ I mean it......death running after you is one thing but running after you naked, hhehehehehe it get's nasty....
and when i opened that dosbox thing...... i just said....ok.....bye bye :P I was using dos extensively before....but this is not really dos It's a small version written by a programming language using the compiler design capabilities of flex and Yacc/bison......i know that because i wrote a mini Pascal programming language at the university, and when you write a program it behaves the same way as DosBox And since then i want to have nothing to do again in my life anything involving such compilers........it became a permanent pshychotic trauma :P So if i can walk by without using DosBox hehehe i will be content |

![]() You can still use Windows 98 to play old games, but there you need little more customization than in DosBox...

![]() But they are bad to play new games too, so I think it's still better to use the new PC with some helping tools and pair of problems with old games.

![]() It seems somebody hasn't figured out how dosbox works
Don't worry help is underway! just look at my signature. It's made for real dummies so maybe you can understand it as well
