But the point about people being made after god's image also meant that all who were cripled, deformed, different were not of god's image and could be enslaved

the jews would be the least of the problems of this world. In terms of conspiracy theories the jews (well not them, but the theories involving them LOL) are nothing but cream in relation to what is actually going on.

No. God made man in his own image, all of mankind (going by the bible). At some unspecified later date, God invited Abraham to found a nation (seperation of church and state coming later). So for quite some time, man was made in God's image, even though, no one was asked to worship God (once again, going by the bible).

This would heavily depend on several things...

If the father was white and the mother black... and the father was influencal enough and cared about this child (possibly if the child was also a male) then the chances are that person had normal rights (especially if it wasn't very dark of complection).

If the father was black and the mother was white (thus not being a slave) the child would officially have to be free, but there's a much greater chance that the wife would be severely punished and the child desposed of at birth for it would probably be considered a great shame and presented as if the woman was raped by a black man.

The law did (if I remember correctly) also perhibit the crossbreading, so something like this probably shouldn't even happen anyway.

Slavery and christianity are intertwined in the modern era. While not impossible, it is hard to talk about one and not the other. Ending slavery in the Americas was fundamentally a religious issue, civil liberties still being beyond the pale of most whites.

Unfortunately you're right (because it was the religious unclearity that allowed slavery in the first place). The decleration of independance talked about all men (men being the generative noun meaning the entire human race - or even if only the males of the speciaes) and it never stated that those rights are just for one race. It said all men under one god (which would leave atheists, heretics, polytheist,...) out, but would include jews and muslims (they only have one god as well).

It's actually sad that such importaint things were left to religious beliefs to decide. Basic human rights (including the right to practice ones own religion - or no religion at all) should be better clerified. Still the decleration of independance was at least the first step in the right direction.
