Technically, we don't have Valentines day in Iceland. I've never ever seen anybody giving cards or anything, I don't see any remarks of it on the streets, nor in the papers or whatever.
There are young couples, though, that like the romantic idea of it, and do something special on this day. Use the day for something they would do some other day anyways.

But we don't have the tradition of giving card to someone you fancy.

 Happy Valentines Day, Everyone!!

I found this and I just thought I'd share the love with all you Valentines Day nay-sayers!

Have a happy day, with someone, or by yourself (because you can love yourself, too you know!)!!

Valentine's day is nearly over for me. But at least it wasn't a very depressing day, got two assignments though <sigh>. One is due in May though so that's cool.

But it is my brother's birthday and I just realised I haven't gotten him anything. What'll I do.

Maybe I'm lucky. I don't give a rat's behind about what the world wants to tell me I should think or how I should act. Valentines day is another crass commercialism day that the media and comercial corperations try to cram down my, and the rest of the world's, collective throat in order to get more money out of an already oversqueezed turnip. In addition, it furthers the concept of couples above all else, and through association it also furthers the hetrosexual mindset. Now, this isn't good nor bad, necessarily, but there are a lot of thin-skinned people in the world who would take offence by it, to which I say let the idiots and lovey-doveys have their day. Eventually the whole system will collapse on itself.

Hopefully...

In any case, it's now Valentines day, and I'm going to wish my fiancee a happy one because it will get me laid quicker. Good Night, Everybody!

Wow there are some SERIOUSLY bitter people around
A friend of mine (single, female) said to me this morning:
"Hmphr, this is the perfect opportunity for you *meep*ers to show me how happy you are and make me feel miserable"

Okey, I haven't met my boyfriend today, not yet, but when I meet him, I'm not going to act any different than I do every day. This friend of mine, the bitter one, is getting seriously on my nerves. She can't see happy couple, then she has to try to make them miserable too.
"OH MY GOD THEY'RE HOLDING HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOMEBODY STOP THEM"

:ranting:

i think valentines day is a good thing to remember what you love....

BUT there are people who think that only presents show that you like someone :not_ok:

"i dont get a present so you dont like me" :ranting:

the commercial stuff ruined the day

nevertheless

Happy Valentins day Abandoniacs :bye:

Me and my coworkers have been joking about it all day long. I CANNOT take it seriously, but it is a great opportunity to play pranks on ppl, for example I wrote a "secret admirer" text to one of my coworkers boyfriends to try and freak him out, muahaha!!!!

But no, it's so silly and all about commercialism, no doubt about that
