I'm thinking of a game where you play as a good guy. It's a FPS, but you could say its a child of an RTS. The multiplayer modes even made use of RTS features in FPS combat. More hints if no-one can get it.

alright, I have one.

In this FPS you play first one person, then two people simultaneously. It is steeped in Gothic horror and in as the course of the game turns out, A son's compulsion to see the place of his father's passing turns into a race to prevent the apocalypse from being completed.

I don't know that game, unfortunately. I reckon someone else will, but as I really want to get this one myself, could you please post a small hint such as the year in which it was made (approx.) or the type of gameplay?

It was made around 1996 and it's a FPS crossed with an point and click adventure with lots of survival horror thrown in. It's all from a first person perspective except for the FMV

according to Mobygames the game in question was made in 1980 (wich I beileve to be a mistake)
