Default Trouble with Mounting

Just started looking into DOSBox because I was looking at downloading, and playing, Fallout. Of course, I haven't had all the much experience with this program, first time ever hearing of it. The tutorial is amazingly helpful in many manners. I did it the simple way, did everything the same as the tutorial said to, so there were no big problems. But when I went to go mount my HDD (c: drive) as it said I should (going into the config notepad file and mounting it), I did everything as I should have, with the change of the CD drive from d: to e:, and then saved. Then I opened and started up DOSBox, and it still started at the z: drive. So I went back and double checked if everything was right, and it was exactly the same. Don't know if the problem is with my computer or the program. The next thing I am going to do, if I don't get a reply to this, is go back and re-download the whole file. BTW, I am sorry if there are 16 other threads with the same topic, but I didn't want to go looking through the whole thing looking for them. Help, as always, is greatly appreciated.
