![]() I played this game last night. I finished it in only a few hours (even Expert mode) but despite the short length of the game I found myself really invested in the characters and the story by the time I got to the end. I wasn't expecting that, because I found it really difficult to get into at the beginning -- all the mythology and fantasy stuff was kind of hard to follow at first -- so it almost came as a surprise to me that I was actually affected by the ending and kind of bummed that it was over. Bittersweet wasn't it? Also, I found the music very atmospheric (and I didn't even have the enhanced version!).
Side note, I was reminded a bit of the "His Dark Materials" books in certain ways. All the tearing holes in the universe and stuff, and the nature of the ending (don't want to give TOO much away). Anyway, great game... better than I was expecting. Definitely one I will remember. |

![]() Am just wondering, am I the only one who can't find an exit/quit game option? I've pretty much pressed all of the keys on my keyboard (I found the save/load options and figured how to pause it) and even combined some of them with Ctrl, but I still can't get out of the game without Ctrl-Alt-Deleting and removing it from my tasks... Is there another way, or no?
I finished this within a few hours on the "novice" level and plan on trying the other difficulties too |

About Loom, I downloaded the game off of this site which is the EGA version (its officially abandonware, right?), and I realized soon after that there are a few other versions too. I've done research, and the one I'd like to play the most would be the FM-Towns version. Does anyone here have that? If so, could they be so kind as to upload/host it? It'd be greatly appreciated! I've only just played the beginning of Loom, and I've already fallen in love with it. |

![]() I'd also like to add that I have found and downloaded a VGA version of the game. These are the files...
000.LFL 901.LFL 902.LFL 903.LFL 904.LFL Disk01.lec Loom - Application File ... and it plays on SCUMMvm, but with no sound or music whatsoever. I don't know if its the VGA of the FM-Towns or if its the VGA of the talking version. Also, I noticed that the EGA version which I got from this site has MANY more files, so I'm also wondering if this VGA version is a demo or something. Also, if this is the full game, then, to have sound, do I have to just go and download the soundtrack? I've tried going to Home of the Underdogs for the patches but the site is inaccessible for some reason.\ And if there's no solution I'll be content playing the EGA :P. |

![]() Actually, I take back what I said. Yesterday I downloaded and listened to the Loom audio drama, and now I would really like to play the voiced over version.
Does anybody here have or know where to get the talkie version? |

![]() Loom's the best game ever made (along with Secret of Monkey Island and Master of Magic).
Awesome music, awesome atmosphere, awesome setting, awesome story, awesome gameplay concept... Pure magic. Haven't read through the topic so I don't know if this has been mentioned already, but a fan-made sequel's been working on : http://www.apeirongames.de/ Time will tell. |

![]() I bought this game on steam. At first i had no idea what's going on, then I clicked the manual button in steam and I found the manual. It's not needed, but it's a fun and effective way to keep track of your spells and get some extra story. Armed with the manual and a digital pen I started playing this game and I must say it is one of the most enchanting games I've ever played.
EDIT: Actually i found out that it isn't the manual itself but rather the Book of Patterns. I'm really glad lucasarts uploaded this as the manual and not the actual manual. Last edited by ALPHATT; 25-05-2010 at 10:39 PM. |
