I'm just curious: what led to the decision to make the game available again, even after the (I searched the forums and this is what I found) company requested its removal?

That was nothing but our best guess to why it was made non-downloadable. Despite a very thorough search we found no record of who or why changed the game's status.

If we actually received a C&D, there would have to have been a mention of that somewhere in the staff forums.
