It is almost impossible to get the original game on the CD to run anywhere on new PC's. It needs pure Ms-Dos and slower PC. The only way is to download the game off this site (without the videos, though) and it runs well in DosBox.

The only way is to play the game on older PC, and only through Ms-Dos with old graphics card, those that had yet 1-8MB RAM and no 3D acceleration, and old Soundblaster, like Soundblaster 16. There's really no way to play it under just about any Windows version, even under Windows 95 only in Dos-mode, and not under Windows 98 or XP at all. And no way to play it under DosBox, it seems...

Hey if you want power up to your maximum, get the items hidden on
the screen, then simply exit the room, and re-enter.
The items should reappear.

Classic game. I absolutely love it. Used to spend all my time with it when I was younger.

The sequel is even better

This game is an exceptional piece of ART.

When I first played this game back in 1995, I was thoroughly engrossed with my grandfather in it, and even to this day, I have never stumbled across a game as powerful and emotional as this. I look forward to showing my unborn children this game in many many years to come.

Beautiful atmosphere, orchestral and visuals. This game makes me weep, to think so many people are oblivious to it even existing. Theres nothing old about it even to this day, it will be a piece of art forever.

Im even hesitating to rename my company after it in respect.

There apparently was talk of a sequel, LBA 3, but that was back in 2001. I read today it was schedueled to start in 2003 and take 1-2 years. Well, I don't know whats happened to Adeline->No Cliche -> vanished???

I hope others can discover the beauty and feel the goosebumps that it brings as well. k:

Ebay...
That's fine, but it's impossible to run the game from the CD in DosBox or about anywhere else because it searches and detects automatically the graphic card's chips of the earlier times, and with the new graphic cards it crashes. And DosBox isn't of any help there, because it doesn't emulate any graphic card chip, only a VESA 2.0 default so the game crashes there also.
Earlier people on this site tried anything to get the game to run, and managed it finally to get a version that worked in DosBox, and now that this version isn't downloadable, you can forget playing the game from the CD unless you call an old 486er from earlier your own, which isn't so easy to get these days anymore in completely working state. So much for playing the game. Many thanks to a certain company for caring so much (not!) about people's wishes to play a classic game...

DOSBox is supporting VESA. The game should work. You need DOSBox .63 though and you need to correctly mount the CD drive (mount D D:\ -t cdrom).

Didn't you read above? The game detects on hardware level the chip of the graphic card, and DosBox doesn't emulate any of the older graphic cards or doesn't fool the games into believing that there is a graphic card that they search for, so the game can't detect any graphic card. It isn't an issue with the CD drive.
