Same with menzoberranzan. Would probably be a great game if it werent for the blurry graphics.
Are we talking about the same Underworld here? Yes, the 3D box was rather small, because the computers couldn't handle the engine in a bigger window, but hell.. that game had a real 3D engine BEFORE Doom. And what do you mean see something? The dungeon is dark.. have you tried using lanterns to illuminate your surroundings?

Yes. It did have a real 3D engine. But i would trade a real 3d enginge for sharp graphics anytime. Compare for example Eye of the beholder. Sure, it didnt have a 'real 3d engine' but the graphics were WAY better.
I guess my problem was back then that i came right from the amiga to the pc. And about every game on the amiga was 3 to 5 times better when it came to graphics then it was on the pc.

That could be, the PC was quite for some time the special foster brother of the Amiga But I also have to state that a comparison to EoB is not really accurate. It's entirely a different story to place sprite models in a 2D dungeon view, than it is to create passable sprite models in a 3D environment. Who by the way have to move seamlessly in that environment and interact with the player. And I still think the UU engine did a wonderful job at that. But it's just me, rabidly defending one of my all time favorites

Oh, thats totally Ok to defend your favorite game. My all time favorite Game is Wasteland. And everyone who knows that game knows its not about graphics at all.

And i do understand that at the time UU1+2 shipped the 3d engine was a technical marvel. Its just...i cant even put my finger on it. It just looked wrong and felt wrong. Maybe it is also because i think ultima has to be top down isometric turn based. dunno

Yes, UU was a different breed. It baffled me as well, I was used to playing the likes of Dark Sun But it had a strange charm. After me and a friend of mine started playing it, we were talking on the phone every two hours, telling the tales of our accomplishments

I guess Ultima Underworld is a game that one either falls in love with, or hates from seeing it. After playing it a bit further than level 1 for a few hours it's hard though not to fall in love with it and the special atmosphere in the game.

I remember well when I got Ultima Underworld, I was walking home from school when suddenly something beside the road catched my attention. It was a pack of cigarettes, but it looked too wierd because it had a 500 Schilling note stuck into it's side (bout 50$ worth in Austria). I picked it up and couldn't grasp my joy, thought if I should deposit it in a search+found place.
But then I said to myself, if this person has money for something stupid as smoking, then he must be not be that poor person.
Didn't take me long to decide that I wanted to buy one of these "new CD-ROM drives" for computer as I only had a 3,5" floppy back then. It has cost me most of my money and with the rest I bought Ultima Underworld 1+2 on CD edition.

Sorry if this has been asked before:

Is this a patched version of the game or has an additional patch to be applied?

Sorry, no info, ask the Supermod Paco..

Mates, I wanna play UW2.

Can YOU tell me pls are there some nice maps and Clue Book(s)?

I know for one walk through only!?

I installed the game and started in DosBox in XP Pro.
No any problem. Sound and music also.

Only when i tried full screen, some of right screen stuff disappeared after right monitor frame. Maybe some settings must be done? It is no problem for me at all.

I recruit volunteers to play together this game.

Cold German beer and Italian pizza free..
