Is there anyone else that gets seriously peeved at certain things in this game ?

New Aurim when your transporting the recruits

Take a step forward, "draconians trample behind you" press enter, step forward, "draconians trample behind you" press enter, step forward, "draconians trample behind you" press enter, step forward, "draconians trample behind you" press enter,

OK I GET IT, I GET IT ALRIGHT!?!? there behind me stop telling me and slowing me down! #$^&$# you!

and the gong step, step "the gong goes off somewhere below," press enter, every 3 steps

i want to pull my hair out :w00t:

Yeah it gets pretty frustrated at times. Which level are you in now? The bad guys are doing a ritual where there are corrupting the good dragon eggs into evil smelly draconians. So each time they did the trample action, you are bound to hear it because there are gazilions of draconians gathering at that spot.

I don't map things out on paper but i got the clue book to work.

if by some miracle i get through this part of the game i should be home free to finish the game

Cremz how far are you?

i think i'm going to make it to the end this time, Hawkbuff turned out to be a lot easier than expected. Just grab Davik and tell him to take you the Senate and all of a sudden your fighting a few battles and its done. So i just got B'ior and Blackwater glade and then the towers

I am at the Draconian caves. I've played through this game numerous time already because I discovered a cheat factor in the gnome area. I replayed many times at lvl 40 since this is the only high level AD&D games back then. I realized their spells are a little limited compared with BGII heh. Anyway turn-based games has their pluses. Have you played Temple of Elemental Evil yet? That is a great game too.

Good to hear from you again Cremz. Years ago i pushed a red mage to level 40 by repetetious battles.

This time around though was just a straight push to the end.
I got my 2 knights up to level 18 and my red mage ended up level 24.
Several characters are ready to level up but they can't because i'm in the Tower of Flame.

Finally there, could have won by now but been playing a day or two then a day or two off. I tell you, that draconian battle on level 3 of the tower is VERY HARD. I'm not cheating this time around but i have a boat load of goodies.

Did you guys know that you can get your AC up to 20
My knight has an dex of 17 so maybe 21 is even possible
put on the helm +3, solamic plate, shield +4, ring +4 and you'll get it! =)

Anyway that draconian battle I found 9 enchanted draconians on one side and at least 8 more on the other. They just love delay blast fireball and exploded and zapping you when you hit them and closing in on you so you have to hit them. Then when your doing well and think you've won....WAIT disinegrate one or two of yoru best characters so that your really forced to start over. Cause thats what that does really, i mean who wants to make a new characters with starter gear?

Only lvl 18? I remember the one time I played it, back when it was released. It was maybe on the Amiga? As I recall all my characters got to lvl 40 and I had no repetitive fighting at all. Because of this you have to only play human characters. All other races are totally useless as they just don't level more than a few pitiful levels.

Imo it's a must to start multiple characters as fighters and change class with them when they reach lvl 12 or 13. A lvl 13 fighter, lvl 13-40 mage is superb. Fighter 13/Priest13+ Fighter 13/Thief 13+ is also great. Another option is to level up a thief and switch him over to fighter in order to get a higher thaco as you increase your fighter level. Fighter attack skill, gauntlets of strenght if starting as thief, backstab...Fun!

I guess the problem people have with the difficulty is because they chose multiclass characters?! If not I don't understand the problem with difficulty. Surely people play on the hardest level? You get more exp that way. Loads more fun. Didn't manage the extra challenge after the game was won though. That was rather insane. (Also no cheating! It takes away all the challenge and without the challenge it's no fun. Well I did give myself veeery good stats and that might be called cheating.)

Dark Queen of Krynn must be one of the best games I've ever played if you disregard the crappy graphics(which weren't crappy back then). I guess Bard's Tale and Dungeon Master Strikes Back(or was it DM 2?) are the only ones that was as enjoyable. Why has DQK gotten so crappy reviews?

well I finally beat this crazy game guys

Tiamat the five headed dragon was crazy

oh walkthroughs saying "oh if you cast head before you should beat him no problem" ahhh never once i get first attack and nothing to protect me from his many assaults.

I have to say that fight is extremely unfair. No matter how many times i do the fight one or two of my elves are always killed, as in dead and no more firin arrows and casting pretty spells. So i had to live with it.

i moved on and during the celebration and a completley unrealistic battle occurs where i fight somewhere between 22-25 adult dragons.
pust have been at least 5 of each color except only 2 or 3 white, the weakest color at that

i survived only because i had cast haste beforehand.
Who in the world can take on over 20 dragons? oh so i got a few pidley gnomes helping me

one dragon is supposed to be very hard to fight, ONE!! 22 would rip us to pieces

anyway
will stick around here long enough to hear your tale going through the game again Cremz

You don't have footman's dragonlance at all? Ok I cheat a bit so my tanks ended up to have 2 of it and boy killing the dragons were a breeze for me. I mean, with boots of speed and all, I think both my warriors kill 6-8 dragons per delayed blast fireball ftw.

Btw, since we are such a great Dragonlance fan have you read the War of The Souls trilogy yet? Its a very good read though I need to find the time to read the other new trilogies based on the Dragonlance world. I am a fan of the series since the chronicles. It was dead for a while but looks like its alive back now.

So what do you think? The Forgotten Realms world better or the Dragonlance world better? Personally I feel the Forgotten Realms lore is too vast and too hard to grasp (at the time I was a kid) but its ok now and interesting.

Heya everyone,

Played DQK a lot when I was younger. I'm getting back into it but appear to have gotten myself stuck. I went across the straits and into the Kryptophan tombs before doing the lighthouse. Now I'm at a spot where I need the key from Fastillion in the lighthouse... but no way to get back out! Am I screwed? Is there any way to leave, go to the lighthouse, and come back?

Alternatively is there a way I can get into the save file and pop my party to the lighthouse, do that, then pop myself back to where I'm at now?

Thanks
-Polare
