Yeah I treid reading them once, but they can be very boring at parts. I gave up about 700 pages into the Fellowship of the Ring. |

![]() I finished the first book but eventually gave up halfway through 'The Two Towers'
This reminds me, that last Dune game (the fps) was a pretty bad game aswell I recall.

![]() Sure the Lord Of The Rings was awesome... the books I mean. Only the chapter 'The Counsil of Elrond' if I remember correctly in the first book was so boring and long. Most of the rest of it was great. And the movies were great too... But we are supposed to be talking about games here.
So um worst game huh... I don't know if I can think of any, as I don't generally go out and buy/play games without reading reviews. Well ok, I will say DeusEx 2: Invisible War was really quite a let down after the first one. It had been dumbed down into a console game and it ran like a dog, even with the lowest settings. Sure it was alright, but I was expecing so much more. Oh and I agree with cheesegrater about the whole marketting to 14 year old kids who are easily manipulated into thinking things are 'cool'. I am sick of that. I am just generally sick of the whole gangsta/hip hop/hotted up cars/bling whatever culture. |

No there were far more boring parts. "we shall endeavour on this quest... but first we shall sing a 3 page long ode to some elf with a long name" The second book was good right up to the fall of Isengard. After that (the entire Frodo and Sam part) was dull. very dull. anyway, just wanted to say that. moving on...

![]() Yeah Moria. I couldn't remember the name. Mordor kept popping up in my head and I new that wasn't right.
But the thing about the book is it seems ten times longer than that part in the movie did. |

![]() Tolkien enjoys detail. He stretches the events by droning on about the sky and the leaves and the sun and the cold and so on and so forth. And whenever the story begins to progress Tolkien inserts one of his (poor) poems to thicken the book just a bit more.
In the movie these details were visual and most of these poems and dreams were left out. But even then it was still quite boring. Tolkien is by no means a bad writer. Its just that the enjoyable scenes are stretched thin. You must endure a lot of boring text to reach an enjoyable part. Much like with the Dune books. In my opinion the entire part between the Harkonnen assault on Arrakeen and the arrival of Paul and his mother in the Sietch was boring. And the entire part between the sietch and the fremen attack on Arrakeen was dull aswell. Some people, however, find these highly detailed poetic/philosophical parts more enjoyable than the fast-paced parts. And so it all boils down to taste. Much like with worst game ever. Some think all racing games are terrible while other find playing racing games a highly enjoyable activity. I for one can't stand football games, yet each and every year a few new football games are released so obviously there is a market for them.
