When I was 15 and playing this game (11 years ago) it could drive me crazy. The time limit to the game meant that you had to be fast, yet exploring the galaxy was often a slow task and yet necessairy. So I ended up with 100 notes sticking to my desk with all planets of interest and their coordinates. And I kept reloading, and reloading, just so I wouldn't waste time and fuel on empty solar systems.

Still, this game is vastly underrated and was a real mile stone. It was funny, had amazing depth, real time inter-species conflicts changing territory, a very dynamic story, awesome combat AND was an adventure game and strategy game all mixed into one.

1° SC2 is the old and original game. UQM is the remake of these great game. It was built in with a diferent tecnology in the programs used in the denvelope. So UQM is free and it support many addons.

2° try dosbox.

I'm loving the game. One of those games I've been waiting to play for years.

One thing:

If your having trouble with saving new keys for the controls, make sure the key file is not Read Only. Highlight all the Starcontrol files and right click, select Properties, and uncheck Read Only.

I have a question about the game. I'm in deep on my second to last quest which is to get the Syreen to join up. After long probing around it seems I have to find out what happened to her planet and what not. I don't understand I got the mycon egg fragment early in the game when exploring, and I got the mycon to mention deep children in a seriously of random meetings with them (there's no topic to say hey talk about deep children, you just keep blathering randomly on and they finally mention that also in a random type of conversation moment). Afterwards I'm suppose to go back and talk to Syreen and tell her what happened but it seems I satisfied the requirements but she doesn't have any additional conversation with me except for good bye captain? can anyone help me solve my dilemma?

If my memory doesnt fail, the squence to get the syreens on your side is A: to learn about the Deep Childs by speaking the Mycons in a conversation (there isnt any randomes, there many possibilities to pick up the fight before learn about the deep childs + i think that you need to speak them in some lava planet, i am not sure) or trading information whit Melnormes. B: Reach Betelguese or whatever and talk to syreens, they will tell you that they cant help you but you will tell them the true about their real home planet (called Gaia?), they ask for proof C: get the mycon´s egg shell, i recomend to pick up two of them, Melnormes can say you where find them. D: Back to Syreen´s startbase, Talana will agree an alliance with you but they got no ships so only will give you some captains and tell you about their fleet lost somewhere in greens Ur-Quan´s space. E: Get that fleet, ist easy to found but to make out from the battle zone is hardest thing in the game. F: uk err love Talana and by the way, she will ask you about an extra mission and if you end it you will get the sun device from Mycon´s homeworld, see syreens to take their revenge and get a hard won alliance.

Hello, thanks so much for responding.....but after I wrote up the question. I actually found out what to do. Actually you don't talk with the Mycon ships to ask about the deep child. They only randomly blab on, you'll have to speak to the Mycon Homeworld's Mycons about deep child, not the ships. That is what triggers the Syreens' extra conversation lines. I did a search online and there are a lot of misleading walkthrus. After the Syreen quest it was clear sailin'. I'm proud to say after ........what.......... I believe 13-14 years I finally beat this damn game? I'm so satisfied, it's beyond words. Thanks again for responding.
