![]() It could also be that VPC hasn't been told to use the real CD drive as the CD drive of the virtual machine. You must have the virtual machine windowed (not fullscreen) to access the options, look in the menus or in the four icons at the bottom. If my memory serves me right there's one icon for the virtual hard drives, another for the floppies, another for the CD drives and another for the network card. Right-click on the CD one and tell VPC to use your real CD drive --you can also use images, VPC will mount them without need of any third-party program like Daemon Tools.

![]() Also remember that VPC requires you to configre its boot sequence.

![]() I put my money on a non bootable CD, the first Win95 weren't bootable.
If memory serves well, they only became bootable from Win95B or C (OSR2). The others needed a bootflop. And the message about 'insert boot media in selected device' indicates just that his CD isn't bootable and no bootflop is found.. You get another message if the HD is non bootready. (Forgot what it is in VPC, but it's clearely reffering to the HD) I could be completely wrong of course, but I don't think so.

![]() Ok another problem. It can't set up my Local Area Network (High-Speed) to work with windows. I set it up and it says try using the internet and then I try and every page I try to use it with doesn't work. So then I checked my settings and my ethernet adapter is enabled in hardware manager and in the virtual pc settings. Any ideas?

What will happen? The installing of the guest additions will also add (I believe) a virtual network adapter in your host. (or something like that) This will enable actual Internet in your host. @all other abandonians: Please elaborate/correct this info, cause I actually never (successfully) installed a network in VPC. (I also never "needed" Internet in my VPC's)

![]() As said in an earlier post, Win95 is a sucker when it comes to setup networking guest/host via the additions.
You can try to install the additions in Win95, but don't expect too much of it. That's precisely why I advised Win98SE, in Win98SE it works flawless. I only succeeded once in VPC2004/Win95 to set them up, and got a headache doing it. 2 reboots later they were screwed up by a program I installed, so I ditched Win95 and forgot it ever existed. But don't despair, I have to check something out, back soon ..... *Edit Back, LOL Check your PMs, some info for ya.

![]() I had to install a bunch of different network adapters and change some settings in VPC and then it allowed me to use the internet!

![]() Remember that your virtual machines are like separate machines on a LAN, so your security software in the host won't protect the guest just like it wouldn't protect a separate real machine. You need to protect your virtual machine when surfing just like the real one.
