For some reason, when i try to install my game into the dosbox, i get this message that says:

Enter the drive letter to install to>

I put the letter C since i use driver c, but then i get these messages:

Hard disk installation for
Space Quest II
Press any key to continue.

then i press any key to continue, but then the error comees up, and it says:[b]

Illegal command: makepath.
File not found.
Illegal command: C:_install.
C:\SIERRA>

Please tell me what to do! And how to make it run smoothly.

Look up the FAQ on official DosBox site.

Stupid question, but this site it claims all the SQ games work with DOSBOX, but when I click to buy the game, the GOG website says it is only going to work on Windows. I use DOSBOX through a Mac and I don't have Windows on my drive (nor do I want it). Has anybody verified that the collection editions do in fact work with DOSBOX, or is there another site that sells the actual DOS version of the game? Thanks in advance.

The games on GoG still use DosBox. It is part of the actual game from GoG, it loads a preset version of DosBox when you run the game, thus it works in Windows, and people who don't know about DosBox are not confused by it. I don't know if the GoG games run on Macs, you would need to ask on their forum if this game does, or wait and see if someone here can confirm if it works or not.

You could use the "WINE" Windows emulator to install the games. The game data can then be moved to an installed Mac version of DOSBox.
